The Arrival of the Much-Desired Tudor Black Bay Pro the “Fifty-Eight GMT”
Since the birth of the Black Bay Fifty Eight, the public has been clamouring for a Black Bay Fifty Eight GMT for a long time, and in recent years, bets are being placed on the possible launch of this more than desired watch, and today Tudor ends to please its audience with the launch of the Black Bay Pro, and any resemblance with the Rolex Explorer II is not a pure illusion.
The new Black Bay Pro appears a little different from what the public would have initially dreamed of, although it is already starting to be a tradition, when many bet on Balck Bay with a bi-colour bezel, Tudor offers now a steel fixed bezel with 24 hours scale.
In terms of the 39mm stainless steel case, there is not much to say and the only surprises are the bezel that we have already talked about, the black concave dial features the traditional snow-flakes hands and accents in beige filled with green lume, adding now a central GMT hand in yellow, matching the hue of the inscription of 200m of water resistance at 6 o’clock, preceded by the two lines of white inscription of “Chronometer” and “Officially Certified”, and finally a date window at three o’clock.
Inside, the Caliber MT5652 (COSC certified) automatic movement operates and offers up to 70 hours of power reserve.
The watch is offered with a stainless steel bracelet with rivets, with a polished and satin finish as the case, or alternatively with a leather and rubber strap or fabric strap, like most of the Black Bay collection.
The watches are now available at the brand’s official stores and retailers, with prices starting at €3,840 and €3,540 for the steel bracelet and leather/rubber or fabric strap variants respectively.
Our Opinion
We have no doubt that it will be a success just like the rest of the BB58 collection, we were surprised by the steel bezel and the yellow details, we had not considered this possibility, but in the end, we have to say that we were very pleased with the final result. The price is probably the cherry on the cake, with a price of € 3,840 with a steel bracelet, it should become one of the GMT hot killers on the market.
