The Arrival of the 2nd Generation of “CasiOak”
Exciting news for G-Shock lovers, Casio has just announced the arrival of the second generation of the GA-2100 or CasiOak as it is better known.
The second generation of CasiOak with the reference GA-B2100 brings two very interesting new features and they are, first, the introduction of Bluetooth connectivity and second, Tough Solar charging technology.
Bluetooth connectivity will allow the watch to be connected to a Smartphone and through it allow a set of functionalities such as setting the time, reminders, alarms, phone finder, among others, while Tough Solar technology allows the watch to be charged using the natural or artificial light without having to have to replace the battery from time to time.
Despite the inclusion of these two new features, fans of this model can rest assured, since on the outside the new G-Shock GA-B2100 is in every way similar to the original GA-2100 launched in 2019, keeping the carbon/resin case in the same dimensions of 48.5 by 45.4 mm, 11.9 mm thickness (increased just 0.1 mm) and only 52 gr in weight, mineral glass, resin band in the same tone as the case, carbon core guard structure, stainless steel case back and 200m of water resistance.
The watch retains all previous features such as World time with 38 time zones, a countdown timer, a 1/100-second stopwatch, 5 daily alarms, full auto-calendar, battery level indicator, double LED light (Super illuminator), two hands analogue dial and a digital time display, among many others features.
The new generation comes in five colour variants: black and black, black and grey, green, blue and yellow.
Regarding prices and availability, it is expected to arrive in May for the Asian market and a month later in June for the Western market. Prices should be around $150 for all variants with the exception of the yellow one which will be $160 and is slightly more expensive.
Our Opinion
The renewal of the 2019 model was long-awaited and the new features seem to be quite adjusted to today, where sustainability and connectivity are the order of the day.
The five variants do not disappoint and will certainly make CasiOak’s legion of fans very happy, as in the past it is predictable that initially, the models will sell out and that it will take a few months for the market to stabilize, but from then on we believe that there will be no difficulty in acquiring any of the five variants.
The price, despite being significantly higher than the model launched in 2019, given the new features it adds, seems to be adjusted and for the most patient, it is likely that at some point the price will drop.
Of all the variants that I liked the most was the yellow one, as I had already become a fan of the DWE-5600R-9ER also in yellow, perhaps because it is different from my black Casios and is fun, so it is very likely that one of these models will be in my shopping list soon.
