The Archiwatch Launches A New Limited Edition 25-Piece Classic Two-Tone
Archiwatch, an independent French brand, presents a new watch, the Classic Two-Tone, which, like its previous model “Anonymous”, is presented in a limited edition of just 25 units.
Inspired by the historic Patek Philippe Calatrava 96, the new creation is presented in a moderate stainless steel case of 36mm diameter by 8.5mm thick with a smooth bezel and a brushed finish on most surfaces. Fluted crown at 3 o’clock, solid case back engraved with individual numbering and 50m and water resistance.
But it is the salmon or silver rosé dial as the brand defines it, which is the main showcase of this watch, featuring applied Breguet numerals, two dauphine faceted hands, a railroad minute track and the discreet lettering of the brand at 6 o’clock. It should be noted, however, that the dial comes with a vertical brushed finish only interrupted by a ring that features a circular brushed finish on which the hour markers rest.
Inside is the manual movement Sellita SW210-1 that gives life to the watch, reaching 28,800 Vph and offering up to 42 hours of power reserve.
The watch is accompanied by two Molequin leather straps in taupe and anthracite, in addition to a Molequin leather travel case from the same brand.
The watch has been available since the 15th of June on the brand’s website and can be purchased for €2,000.
Our Opinion
Many are the interactions of the Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 96 and many will complain about the absence of a small second or rather the option for applied lipstick hour markers like happened with Anonymous, but for us, the option for Breguet numerals and the two dauphine hands with no seconds seems to result in perfection confirming that in simplicity we can find the perfection.
Another association that we cannot avoid is with the Baltic MR-01 that we talked about here a few days ago, where the similarities are more than evident and even though I am a confessed admirer of the Baltic MR-01 I must confess that if I had to choose between the two without looking at the price differences, the classic two-hand dial supported by a manual movement would make me opt for the new Archiwatch Classic Two-Tone.
