TechArt GTclassic: A New Life For The Porsche 964
TechArt has spent decades transforming modern Porsches. Now, the German specialist is looking back to the past with its first restomod project: the GTclassic, based on the Porsche 911 (964).

Built around a 964-generation 911, the GTclassic combines classic 911 design cues with modern engineering and everyday usability. Its bodywork takes inspiration from earlier F-series models, featuring a longer bonnet, wider fenders, mesh-covered vents and a ducktail rear spoiler. LED lighting adds a contemporary touch, while champagne-coloured detailing and bespoke 18-inch Retrosport forged wheels complete the look.

At the heart of the GTclassic is a naturally aspirated 3.8-litre air-cooled flat-six producing around 375 hp, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive.
TechArt has also upgraded the suspension with dampers featuring external reservoirs, while retaining the 964’s ABS and power steering. The result is intended to deliver a more capable driving experience without sacrificing everyday usability.

Inside, plaid upholstery, red leather accents and champagne-coloured details create a distinctly retro atmosphere. Hanhart analogue timepieces add another period-inspired touch.
However, TechArt hasn’t completely embraced nostalgia. The cabin also includes modern infotainment with Apple CarPlay, navigation and Bluetooth connectivity, making the GTclassic considerably easier to live with on a daily basis.

The GTclassic is an interesting first step into the restomod world for TechArt. Rather than chasing extreme power or turning the 964 into a track-focused machine, the German company has focused on combining classic Porsche character with modern usability.

With its air-cooled flat-six, manual transmission and carefully updated chassis, the GTclassic looks like a restomod designed to be driven, not simply displayed.
