Zenith Expands The G.F.J. Collection With Bloodstone And Black Onyx Dials
Following the debut of the G.F.J. collection during its 160th anniversary celebrations, Zenith continues to develop this elegant dress watch line with two new limited editions distinguished by rare stone dials and refined materials. These latest releases reinforce the collection’s identity, combining historical inspiration with contemporary watchmaking execution.
Case Design and Proportions
Both new G.F.J. models share identical case dimensions, measuring 39.15 mm in diameter, 10.50 mm in thickness, and 45.15 mm lug-to-lug. The case architecture is defined by a stepped bezel and sculpted lugs, finished with a combination of polished and brushed surfaces that enhance the overall depth and sophistication.

The crown is signed with the “G.F.J.” initials, a direct reference to Georges Favre-Jacot, the founder of the manufacture. Despite their classic proportions, the watches maintain a contemporary presence on the wrist thanks to their well-balanced profile and carefully executed finishing.
Caliber 135: A Reengineered Chronometry Icon
At the heart of both models is the modern interpretation of the legendary Zenith Caliber 135. Originally produced between 1949 and 1962..

This new version preserves the original architecture and visual identity while integrating modern technical improvements. The power reserve has been significantly extended from 40 to 72 hours, while optimized gear geometry improves overall efficiency. To enhance durability, the movement now incorporates spring-mounted jewel settings that help protect the balance staff. In addition, a hacking seconds mechanism has been introduced, allowing for precise time-setting down to the exact second.
The caliber operates at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour and features a large balance wheel fitted with regulation screws, paired with a Breguet overcoil to improve isochronism and stability. Zenith has retained the signature double-arrow regulator, enabling precise fine-tuning of the movement. Certified by the COSC, the caliber is adjusted to achieve an accuracy of within ±2 seconds per day, underscoring its strong chronometric performance.
G.F.J. Bloodstone: Natural Stone Meets Classic Gold
The first of the two new models pairs an 18K yellow gold case with a striking bloodstone dial. This natural material, composed of green chalcedony with red hematite inclusions, ensures that each dial is unique, with subtle variations in pattern and tone.
The dial is constructed in multiple layers, beginning with a central section in bloodstone. This is complemented by a small seconds subdial crafted from mother-of-pearl, adding contrast and depth. Surrounding these elements is a guilloché outer ring featuring a pattern inspired by the brick façade of Zenith’s historic manufacture in Le Locle, subtly linking the watch to the brand’s heritage.

All applied elements, including the hour markers and hands, are executed in yellow gold to match the case. The minute track is formed by 40 individually hand-applied gold beads, adding a refined decorative touch while maintaining legibility. The dial text is kept to a minimum, allowing the materials and finishing to take center stage.
This edition is limited to 161 pieces and is delivered with three straps: beige nubuck alligator, green alligator, and black calfskin. An optional matching yellow gold bracelet is also available. The watch is priced at € 54,000.
G.F.J. Black Onyx: Tantalum and High Contrast Details
The second release offers a more exclusive interpretation, limited to just 20 pieces, and introduces a case made from tantalum. Known for its density, durability, and distinctive grey-blue hue, tantalum gives the watch a noticeable presence on the wrist while offering a unique visual character, particularly when polished.
The dial follows a similar multi-part construction but with a different aesthetic direction. At its center is a deep black onyx surface, paired with a grey mother-of-pearl subdial for the small seconds. The subtle tonal contrast between these elements adds visual interest without compromising the overall monochromatic look.

Encircling the dial is a black guilloché outer ring, which in this version incorporates 11 baguette-cut diamond hour markers. These are discreetly integrated into the design, becoming more apparent upon closer inspection. The hands and minute markers are executed in white gold, with 40 hand-applied beads forming the minute track and reinforcing the attention to detail seen throughout the piece.
Each watch is delivered with three straps—a blue nubuck alligator, a black alligator, and a grey calfskin—secured with a titanium pin buckle featuring the G.F.J. signature. This highly limited edition is priced at € 82,700.
A Refined Direction for Zenith’s Dress Watches
With these two new references, Zenith continues to shape the G.F.J. collection as a showcase for both historical movements and expressive materials. The combination of natural stone dials, precious metals, and a high-performance chronometer movement highlights the brand’s ability to merge tradition with modern craftsmanship.
These latest additions further establish the G.F.J. line as a distinctive offering within Zenith’s portfolio, emphasizing precision, heritage, and refined design.
