Oris and Swiss leather specialist Cervo Volante return with another interpretation of the Big Crown Pointer Date, this time pairing the model’s vintage-inspired architecture with an autumnal burgundy gradient dial and a sustainable deer-leather strap.

The collaboration builds on a relationship that began in 2022, when the two brands introduced their first Big Crown Pointer Date models featuring Cervo Volante leather. For this latest edition, Oris returns to the classic 40mm Big Crown Pointer Date configuration, combining familiar proportions with a new colour palette inspired by the autumn landscape around Hölstein, where Oris is based.

A familiar Big Crown silhouette

The stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter, with a 48 mm lug-to-lug distance and a thickness of 12.20 mm. Its design retains one of the most recognisable elements of the Big Crown Pointer Date: the knurled bezel.

A double-domed sapphire crystal covers the dial, reinforcing the vintage character of the watch while providing modern scratch resistance. Water resistance is rated at 50 metres.

The oversized screw-down crown is another defining feature of the Big Crown family, making winding and setting the watch straightforward while contributing to its water resistance.

Burgundy autumn tones

The dial is the main visual change for this edition. Its burgundy gradient moves from a darker outer edge towards a lighter centre, creating additional depth without abandoning the restrained character of the Big Crown Pointer Date.

White Arabic numerals and minute-track printing provide contrast against the burgundy background, while the applied hour markers are treated with Super-LumiNova.

Oris uses its characteristic cathedral-style hour and minute hands, accompanied by a slim seconds hand and the model’s signature central pointer-date hand. The latter features a red tip that travels around the perimeter of the dial to indicate the date.

Cervo Volante sustainable deer leather

The collaboration extends beyond the dial. The watch is fitted with a 20mm dark brown Cervo Volante strap made from Swiss deer leather.

Cervo Volante sources deer hides from animals whose populations are managed by Swiss authorities. The company then uses these otherwise discarded skins to produce leather goods, giving the material a second life.

The strap features quick-release spring bars, contrasting white stitching and a stainless steel pin buckle. Cervo Volante branding and its scarab emblem are discreetly incorporated into the underside.

Each watch is also supplied with a matching travel pouch made from the same deer leather, although in a lighter shade.

Alpina expands the Alpiner collection with a distinctive limited edition created in collaboration with Geneva-based customization studio Label Noir. Known for its experimental surface treatments and contemporary reinterpretations of traditional watchmaking, Label Noir brings a new visual identity to the Alpiner Manufacture Date while staying within Alpina’s alpine-inspired design language.

The result is a watch that combines a textured white dial, a uniquely finished stainless steel case, and the return of a manufacture movement to Alpina’s lineup. Limited to 130 pieces, the Alpina x Label Noir Alpiner Manufacture Date Special Edition stands apart from the brand’s more conventional tool-watch aesthetic.

Case and Exterior
