Fears Introduces The Brunswick 40 ‘Filton’ With Aviation-Inspired Design
British watchmaker Fears Watch Company continues to expand its modern Brunswick collection with the introduction of the Brunswick 40 ‘Filton’, a new interpretation of its signature cushion-shaped dress watch that adopts a more utilitarian, aviation-inspired aesthetic.
Presented as one of the brand’s releases at Time to Watches, the new model draws clear inspiration from traditional pilot’s watches while preserving the elegant silhouette that has become synonymous with the Brunswick line.
The name “Filton” is a tribute to the historic district of Bristol, long associated with the Bristol Aeroplane Company, further strengthening the brand’s connection to its home city and industrial heritage.
A More Instrument-Led Dial Design
The most striking element of the new Brunswick 40 ‘Filton’ is undoubtedly its dial layout.
Created with legibility as a clear priority, the watch features large Arabic numerals filled with luminescent material, ensuring excellent visibility in all lighting conditions. The aviation inspiration is further reinforced by a triangle marker at 12 o’clock, a detail reminiscent of classic military and cockpit instrument watches.

Additional orientation markers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock appear as bold horizontal batons, giving the display a strong sense of balance and functionality.
Fears presents the model in two distinct versions. The Raven Black variant offers a high-contrast black-and-white aesthetic that emphasizes readability, while the Squadron Green edition embraces a more military-inspired look with an olive green dial enhanced by a subtle ombré gradient effect.
A major update for the Brunswick line comes in the form of a date complication positioned at 6 o’clock, marking the first time this function has been introduced in the modern collection.
Rather than disrupting the symmetry of the dial, Fears has integrated the date window in a subtle and thoughtful manner. It sits neatly just above the 6 o’clock marker instead of replacing it, preserving the visual balance of the display while adding everyday practicality.
Signature Cushion Case and Refined Finishing
The Brunswick 40 ‘Filton’ retains the collection’s hallmark 40 mm cushion-shaped case, combining soft curves with elegant proportions.

Its rounded profile continues to deliver the refined wrist presence expected from the Brunswick family, while the aviation-inspired dial gives the watch a sportier and more versatile personality that broadens its appeal beyond a classic dress watch.
Turning the watch over reveals an exhibition caseback, offering a clear view of the movement inside.
Powered by the La Joux-Perret G100
Powering the new Filton is the La Joux-Perret G100 automatic movement, a calibre increasingly appreciated among independent brands for its reliability and solid performance.

Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement is fitted with Fears’ custom Bristol Flower rotor, finished in a vivid blue tone that mirrors the blue leather lining found inside the strap.
The calibre offers a 68-hour power reserve, adding practical convenience for daily wear and allowing the watch to be set aside for a weekend without stopping.
Strap and Bracelet Options
The new Filton models are available on a buffalo leather strap, which complements the watch’s refined yet sporty character. For those who prefer a more contemporary look, Fears also offers the model on a stainless steel bracelet, enhancing its versatility.

Price and Availability
The Fears Brunswick 40 ‘Filton’ is priced at € 3,200 when fitted with the leather strap, while the version on bracelet comes in at € 3,400, with both prices excluding VAT.
With its blend of elegant British design, aviation-inspired legibility, and the welcome addition of a date complication, the new Filton introduces a fresh and more robust expression of the Brunswick collection.
