Ressence Introduces The Type 11 With The New In-House RW-01 Movement
Ressence has unveiled one of its most significant releases to date with the introduction of the new Type 11, a model that marks an important technical milestone for the Belgian independent watchmaker. Known for its unconventional approach to time display through its signature orbital dial system, the brand now takes a decisive step forward with the debut of its first fully integrated proprietary movement, the Ressence Werk 01 (RW-01).
Beyond the new movement architecture, the Type 11 also introduces an innovative power reserve display based on ceramic microballs, adding yet another distinctive design element to the brand’s instantly recognizable aesthetic.
A New Chapter For Ressence’s Orbital Display Concept
At the heart of the new Type 11 is Ressence’s signature ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System) display, a system that replaces traditional hands with rotating sub-discs and satellites that orbit the dial in a highly intuitive layout.
Hours, minutes, and running seconds are displayed through the brand’s signature continuously rotating indications, preserving the clean and fluid visual language that has become synonymous with Ressence.

For this release, the brand introduces three dial colours: Pine, presented in green, Sky, in blue, and Latte, in a warm beige tone. Each version combines grain-textured and brushed finishes across the dial surface, creating dynamic reflections and a sense of depth that changes depending on the light.
Innovative Ceramic Microball Power Reserve Indicator
One of the most original features of the Type 11 is its newly designed power reserve display.
Rather than relying on a conventional hand or sector-style indicator, Ressence uses a row of ceramic microballs in contrasting tones to visually represent the remaining energy stored in the movement’s barrels.

This unusual solution perfectly reinforces the brand’s design-driven philosophy while introducing a highly modern and distinctive way to read the power reserve status. It is a detail that immediately sets the Type 11 apart from anything currently available in contemporary watchmaking.
The New Integrated RW-01 Movement
The headline innovation of the Type 11 is undoubtedly the new RW-01 automatic movement.
For the first time, Ressence moves away from the heavily modified third-party calibres previously used in its watches and introduces a movement specifically conceived to operate the ROCS system from the ground up.

Developed in collaboration with a Swiss movement specialist, the RW-01 represents the brand’s first fully integrated mechanical architecture. The automatic movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and features 40 jewels, 67 gears, and 18 ball bearings. It is equipped with twin barrels, delivering a solid 60-hour power reserve.
The use of two barrels ensures stable energy delivery to the orbital display system while also supporting the watch’s innovative display mechanics. Interestingly, the barrels and balance wheel are visually arranged to echo the circular motion of the dial-side satellites, creating a coherent mechanical and visual identity throughout the watch.
Titanium Case And Signature Crownless Construction
The Type 11 is housed in a Grade 5 titanium case, maintaining Ressence’s familiar pebble-like silhouette.
The case measures 41 mm in diameter, with a 45 mm lug-to-lug distance and an overall thickness of 11 mm including the domed sapphire crystal. Despite the slightly larger diameter, the compact lug-to-lug measurement should allow the watch to wear comfortably on a wide range of wrists.

The case is predominantly polished, while the case back features a circular brushed finish that adds subtle contrast.
As with other models from the brand, the Type 11 remains crownless. Time-setting and manual winding are handled via the lever system integrated into the case back, preserving the smooth and uninterrupted case profile that defines Ressence’s design language.
The screwed case back construction, secured with four screws, contributes to a water resistance of 30 meters.
Strap And Bracelet Options
Ressence offers the Type 11 with several wearing options, allowing owners to tailor the watch to different styles and preferences.

The watch is available on a leather strap, rubber strap, or a hybrid leather-and-rubber strap, while buyers can also opt for a titanium Milanese mesh bracelet, which pairs particularly well with the lightweight titanium case and the watch’s contemporary design.
Price And Availability
The new Ressence Type 11 is priced at CHF 23,000 excluding VAT.
With the launch of the RW-01, Ressence not only introduces a new model but also establishes a major technical foundation for its future collections. The Type 11 stands as one of the most important releases in the brand’s history, combining its signature design philosophy with a movement developed specifically around its unique orbital display concept.
