Squale Marks 65 Years With Marina Militare Limited Edition

Squale, which celebrates its 65th anniversary this year, launches a limited edition that, in addition to marking this historic milestone, also pays homage to its historic connection with the Italian navy with the new 1521 Marina Militare Limited Edition.

As it is clear, the Italian watch brand chooses to use its most emblematic model, 1521, which is evident on the case with straight lugs, flat sides, recessed crown at 4 o’clock and 500m of water resistance. On the dial and beyond, we find several details in orange, the colour of the Italian naval force.

On the outside, we have a mainly brushed stainless steel case measuring 42mm in diameter, 12.50mm thick and 48mm long. Sapphire crystal, a polished unidirectional bezel with black aluminium insert scaled in white and orange a pip lume at 12 o’clock, a screw-down crown and case back, and the 50 ATMs mentioned above.

The black dial is adorned with polished hour markers and hands filled with Super-LumiNova, with the minute hand as well as the second’s tip coming in shades of orange matching the second track inserted in the minute rehaut, a date window with a white background at 3 o’clock and the brand’s inscriptions at noon and “Marina Militare” in orange at 6 o’clock.

Inside, it’s powered by the 26-jewel Sellita SW200 automatic movement, which runs 28,800 Vph and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve.

The watch comes attached to a microfiber strap with a carbon-like texture with orange stitching and is offered in a special box with the Marina Militare coat of arms that also includes an extra black rubber strap.

Five hundred pieces will be available, divided into two batches, and reach the market for € 1,590.
