Tissot Presents PRX Powermatic 80 Special Edition Honoring Grendizer

The 1970s was a creative design era marked by bold colours, eclectic styles, and a mix of futuristic and retro influences, all driven by a rebellious spirit. This energy gave rise to icons like the Tissot PRX and UFO Robot Grendizer.

UFO Robot Grendizer is a 1975 Japanese Manga animated series about Duke Fleed, an alien prince who pilots the giant Grendizer to defend Earth from the evil Vegan Empire. Created by Go Nagai, it’s the third in the “Mazinger” series and became hugely popular, especially in France, Italy, and the Middle East. The series is known for its darker tone and lost cultural impact.

The two brands are now coming together to bring a special edition of the PRX Powermatic 80. Like its siblings, it wears a stainless steel case measuring 40mm in diameter, 10.90mm thick and 51mm long with a brushed and polished finish. It features an integrated bracelet with the first rigid links (not articulated), smooth bezel, sapphire glass, fluted crown with the brand’s T, open case back and 100m water resistance.

The dark blue dial is designed with the figure of Robot Grendizer, which during the day almost goes unnoticed but in the dark is detectable thanks to its outline filled with Super-LumiNova that glows yellow and contrasts with the same luminescent material that fills the applied hour markers and hands that glow green. It is also worth highlighting the second hand with a counterweight in the shape of Grendizer’s helmet instead of the brand’s traditional T and the absence of the date window.

Like the dial, the Powermatic 80 automatic movement comes with the figure of the Grendizer engraved on the rotor followed by the inscription “Tissot x Grendizer”, operating at 21,600 Vph and offering up to 80 hours of power reserve.

Finally, the watch arrives in a special box priced at CHF 795.
