The Watches of the Captains of the Euro 2020 Teams

The Euro 2020 is there and we decided to check out the watches of the team captains of the main teams that are natural candidates to win the trophy. We also decided to spice up the article and make our own Euro 2020 championship based on the watch choices of these stars and assign the podium according to our preferences, but let’s get down to business.

We start with Germany captain Manuel Neuer, although unlike most other captains he doesn’t have a vast collection of watches (at least he doesn’t show it) he is usually seen wearing an admirable Rolex Daytona Ref. 116500LN, released model in 2016 and that comes with a ceramic bezel.

We are now going to Belgium through its captain Eden Hazard, who seems to be a great fan of watches, one of his latest additions to the collection was a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Ref. 116588TBR, introduced in 2019 and which remained known as the “Eye of the Tiger”, which comes in a yellow gold case with a bezel set with 37 trapeze diamonds and many more can be found on the yellow gold dial, with a price of over € 100,000. Other watches such as a Richard Mille RM 016 and some Hublot’s are often seen on this player’s wrist.

Hugo Lloris, France captain, is not often seen on social media wearing many watches, however, we managed to catch him in a photo montage for IWC and French football federation, using a Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition “Rodeo Drive”, whose reference is IW503001, is a watch that comes in a ceramic and titanium case, with a blue dial and costs around € 32,700.

Dutch national team captain Georginio Wijnaldum, seems to be a Patek Philippe fan, as he was seen wearing at least two Nautilus models, one in rose gold entirely paved with diamonds snow-set on the case, bezel, dial, and bracelet, unfortunately, we couldn’t get the reference of the model in question, the other much more discreet model is the Nautilus 5980/1R in rose gold with black dial it’s a chronograph with a date whose price is € 86,470. We also found the Netherlands captain wearing a white Richard Mille Bubba Watson RM 055.

Like Georginio Wijnaldum, Harry Kane the England captain seems to share the same taste for watches, namely by Patek Philippe Nautilus as he was seen wearing exactly the same 5980/1R in rose gold, the captain of the British team seems to be an admirer of Gérald Genta’s style as he was also seen wearing an Audemars Piguet (AP) Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked Ref. 15407ST.OO.1220ST.01 priced at CHF 53,300, besides these two watches we also found some Hublot models wearing on his wrist.

The Italy captain Giorgio Chiellini seems to be fond of Gérald Genta’s design as he is often seen wearing both a Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711, as well as an AP Royal Oak Offshore, but this player, seems to have a refined taste for watches, having also been seen using some Rolex models, namely a Cosmograph Daytona Ref. 116509 in white gold and a black dial as also a Rolex GMT Master II with a “Pepsi” dial.

Lastly, Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of the Portuguese national team, the watches alongside the sports cars seem to be one of Cristiano’s passions, recently a report in a Portuguese sports newspaper evaluates his watch collection at over 6 million Euros and how the collection is vast we decided to choose just a few, among them two Rolex’s, a GMT Master in yellow gold and a Chronograph Daytona valued at around € 90,000 and € 35,000 respectively, among the most expensive in their collection are a Hublot MP-09 valued at around 2 million Euros, a Muller Cintrée Curvex Tourbillon valued at over 1 million Euros and a Breguet Classique 5349 valued at around 675,000 Euros.

Unfortunately, we had to leave out Sergio Busquets captain of the Spanish team as we couldn’t find the player wearing some iconic piece that would justify being among the selected.

After analyzing the watches of each of the captains we made our choices and here it should be noted that the criteria used were solely and exclusively our opinion according to our tastes, with no factors such as price or value being included.

So we chose in third place captain Manuel Neuer from Germany, who proves that it is not necessary to have a long collection of watches, sometimes a single iconic piece is enough and his Rolex Daytona is proof of that. For a second place, we elected Harry Kane captain of the British team, which has in its collection iconic models such as the Patek Philippe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, but also some less consensual watches from the Hublot brand. We reserved the gold of our podium for Italian captain Giorgio Chiellini, who seems to be a true watch aficionado, whose collection seems to have a refined taste, as it includes some models designed by the iconic Gérald Genta, such as the Patek Philippe Nautilus and AP Royal Oak, but also with iconic Rolex models, namely a Cosmograph Daytona and a GMT Master II.

A disclaimer, at this time, that it goes live, from our podium only the German team is already out, so we keep the expectation that our podium can be partially confirmed on the field according to our choices.
