Armin Strom And Collective Unveil Limited Edition P.03 ‘Night Ops’

It was just over a month and a half ago that we reported here on the new Armin Strom Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Purple, based on the first watch to come with a stop-work declutch mechanism launched by the brand in 2019. Since then, new iterations of the watch have shown up, namely the limited edition P.03 Gravity Equal Force launched in 2022 for Collective and today the two brands are coming together again to this time bring the new P.03 “Night Ops”.

The tactical watch that might lead many to think it would come completely black does not happen with the new Armin Strom as it comes with an off-centre gradient green dial and an integrated mint green small seconds.

But on the outside, yes, we have a stealthy watch, as it wears a Grade 5 titanium case with a black DLC coating featuring dimensions of 41mm wide, 12.65mm high and 48mm lug-to-lug distance. Thin straight lugs, sapphire crystal on the front and back, fluted crown at 3 o’clock and 30m water resistance.

The semi-skeletonized dial comes with a black Frag Guilloché on the main plate on which sits the gradient khaki green dial at 9 o’clock that intensifies from the centre outwards and on it we can find hour markers, Arabic numerals and two centre hands all filled with Super-LumiNova and an integrated small seconds at 7:30 in shades of mint green.

The right half of the dial, which is open, reveals part of the Caliber ASB19 automatic movement, highlighting the three dark grey ruthenium finger bridges that hold the micro-rotor, the gear train and the mainspring barrel. Operating 25,200 Vph and offering up to 3 days of power reserve.

The watch comes attached to a black fabric strap with grey stitching and a titanium pin buckle.

It is a limited edition of only 30 pieces and will be available exclusively on the Collective website for the price of USD 27,000.

Introducing The New Oris x Collective Horology Divers Seventy-Five LE

Oris teams up with Collective Horology to present a limited edition of 250 pieces of the historic Divers “Seventy-Five”.

This, which is Collective Horology’s ninth collaboration with watch brands, aims to celebrate its Californian origins, featuring a colourful scheme from the 70s.

The main highlight that stands out is the layout of the dial, with the return of the bold rectangular markers filled with Arabic numerals at the 3-6-9-12 o’clock positions, revived in 2015.

The dial now comes in two shades of orange, with a peripheral ring in dark orange where the white hour markers sit. A central disc in light orange painted with a dark orange minute track and in its middle a set of pencil hour and minute hands which is completed with a lollipop seconds hand, all filled with a beige Super-LumiNova and which also gives life to the hour markers.

On the outside, the stainless steel case measuring 40mm in diameter and 12.80mm thick, features a bronze bezel with a brown insert that matches perfectly with the tones of the dial, domed sapphire crystal, fluted crown at 3 o’clock, see-through case back and the usual 100m of water resistance.

The screwed sapphire rear case reveals the In-house automatic movement Caliber 400 that reaches 28,800 Bph and offers 5 days of power reserve.

The watch is attached to a tapered Oyster bracelet with rivets, starting at 20mm wide at the lugs and ending at 14mm at the clasp.

The watch will be for sale exclusively on the Collective Horology website and is now available for a pre-order period at a price of USD 4,150 which will then rise to a price of USD 4,500.

Our Opinion

It is with some surprise that we see the return of the Oris Divers “Seventy-Five” with a more retro layout that was discontinued not long ago because it did not garner much favour from the public, but which we actually liked.

The colour scheme now introduced seems to work very well and be the perfect match with the two-tone steel and bronze case, we would even venture to say that it is perhaps its best combination, and we liked it.

Introducing The Montblanc x Collective Horology 1858 Minerva Monopusher Chronograph

As the market does not only live off the ordinary, we are sometimes surprised by new developments that illuminate our passion and it is in this context that Montblanc, in partnership with Collective Horology, has just released a 33-piece exclusive edition for the US market of the 1858 Minerva Monopusher Chronograph, the ‘Blue Arrow’ P.05.

For those who are not very familiar with Collective Horology, it is a Californian watch dealer mainly specialising in independent brands and in the production of special editions with several high-end watchmaking brands. And it is in this context that this latest collaboration with Montblanc appears to produce something very special and exclusive.

The idea for the new chronograph is inspired by a rare Minerva stopwatch with a white dial acquired by members of the Collective from Eric Wind, an American specialized vintage watch dealer.

This timepiece, which is a new variant of the 1858 Minerva Monopusher Chronograph, has its main charm on its dial, featuring a retro colour palette, substantiated by a white background, two counters painted in faded yellow and a Telemeter and Tachymeter scales in bright blue matching the ‘Blue Arrow’. The dial is completed with black Arabic numerals combined with the centre pencil hands filled with luminescent material and the minute track, a blue chronograph centre seconds and the Montblanc and Collective Horology logos at 12 and 6 o’clock respectively.

The watch comes dressed in a 42mm stainless steel case with an 18k white gold fluted bezel that operates the ‘Blue Arrow’ positioned on the periphery of the dial that can be used for different measurements, sapphire crystal on both sides, carved crown at three o’clock with the 6-pointed star that serves as the watch brand’s logo, horizontal mono-pusher at 2 o’clock that operates the chronograph and 30m water resistance.

And if the main act of the show takes place on the dial, the second one happens on the back, which reveals the In-house manual movement Caliber M13.21 which is based on the M13.20 from 1923, whose impressive decoration with gold engravements and wheels combined with violet jewels and the brushed silver bridges prove to be a real treat for the eyes. Operating 18,000 Vph and offering up to 60 hours of power reserve.

Finally, the chronograph is attached to a black textile strap and can be purchased exclusively at Collective Horology for the price of USD 34,500 which is expected to be delivered in December 2023.
