The Alfa Romeu series 105 and 115 produced between 1963 and 1977 is considered by many to be the best ever of the Italian brand, it is not by chance that they were designed by the famous car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro through the not less famous Italian automobile company Bertone. Later on, the design of the Junior Zagato model was in charge of the also brilliant Ercole Spada through Zagato.

Over the years, all models have undergone few changes in aesthetics and in mechanicals, they shared many specifications, namely the four-cylinder engine with eight valves, two carburetors (series 105), twin spark plugs (for the competition models), and solid disc brakes on four wheels (which was quite innovative for the time).

But let’s get to the point, the first model was created in 1963 called the “Giulia Spirit GT” with a 1570cc engine and remained in production for about two years, the GT referred to Gran Turismo, a model whose conception was thought out for the general public and which served as the basis for the creation of the GT 1300 Junior with a 1290cc engine produced between 1965-76 and later the GT 1600 Junior with a 1570cc engine produced between 1972-76. In 1965 a new version of the base model appeared, the Giulia Spirit GTV, whose meaning was “Gran Turismo Veloce” for being a version designed for a motorsport audience who were looking for faster cars, then the 1750 GTV followed (1967-72) with 1779cc and the 2000 GTV (1972-76) with 1962cc. There were a few more versions produced, namely the Giulia Spirit GTC (Gran Turismo Convertible) whose production was limited to 1,000 units.

The Giulia Sprint GTA (Alleggerita) whose meaning in Italian is lightened was created for competition homologation, having known two more variants over the years, GTA 1300 Junior and later GTAm. All of these models have participated in several competitions in their classes and categories, accumulating a long history of success.

Lastly, we leave here a reference for the two models created by Zagato, which were based on a two-seater coupé body design, first Junior Z (1969-72) with 1290cc and later 1600 Junior Z (1972-75) with 1570cc, both models were limited productions.

We bring you here, one of those spectacular models that our friends at Auxietre & Schmidt have for sale, it is an Alfa Romeu GTA 1300 Junior Stradale from 1968 with a chassis number 775892 and it is one among only 193 units produced in Stradale version by the factory.
