TAG Heuer Refines The Carrera Chronograph Sport With A Smaller Case And New Dial

TAG Heuer has updated the Carrera Chronograph Sport with a revised case, a redesigned dial and a more contemporary approach to its proportions. First introduced in 2020 as part of the Carrera’s modern core collection, the chronograph returns with a smaller footprint while retaining the sporty character and practical timing functions that define the model.

The new collection comprises four dial configurations, all powered by the automatic TH20-00 movement and available with either a steel bracelet or, in one case, a racing-inspired leather strap.

A More Compact Steel Case

The most significant change concerns the dimensions. The stainless steel case now measures 42 mm in diameter, compared with 44 mm for the previous generation, while its thickness has been reduced from 15.48 mm to 14.17 mm.

Although the Carrera Chronograph Sport remains a substantial chronograph, the reduction in both dimensions gives the model a more balanced presence on the wrist. The case retains its established sporty architecture, but the updated proportions make it a more versatile option for everyday wear.

TAG Heuer has also revised several external components. The crown and chronograph pushers have been redesigned without the contrasting bands around their middles, resulting in a cleaner and more uniform appearance.

The tachymeter bezel has received a more substantial update. Instead of the previous full-ceramic construction, the new version combines a steel outer structure with a ceramic insert. This preserves the technical character of the bezel while introducing a different visual relationship between the case and the scale.

A Dial Designed Around Timing

The dial is another important area of change. The previous generation’s broad baton indexes have been replaced by a 60-minute scale with Arabic numerals, reinforcing the chronograph’s role as a timing instrument.

The tri-compax layout remains familiar. A 30-minute counter occupies the 3 o’clock position, a 12-hour counter sits at 9 o’clock, and the running seconds are displayed at 6 o’clock. The date window is integrated into the lower subdial, maintaining the practical character of the display.

This configuration gives the Carrera Chronograph Sport a more instrument-oriented appearance, with the minute scale becoming one of the defining visual elements of the new collection.

Four Dial Configurations

TAG Heuer is offering the updated Carrera Chronograph Sport in four colour combinations. The collection includes a black dial with red accents, a blue dial with silver accents, a green dial with silver accents and a silver dial with black accents.

The blue version is also available with an alternative strap configuration. Alongside the standard steel bracelet, it can be paired with a light-brown perforated racing leather strap, reinforcing the model’s motorsport-inspired character.

Automatic Calibre TH20-00

The new Carrera Chronograph Sport is powered by the automatic TH20-00, TAG Heuer’s modern chronograph movement derived from the HEUER 02 architecture used in the original model.

The movement offers an 80-hour power reserve, providing more than three days of autonomy when fully wound. It combines automatic winding with the chronograph’s central seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour counters, running seconds and date display.

Pricing and Availability

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Sport is available with a steel bracelet for € 6,550. The blue version with the perforated racing leather strap is priced at € 6,350.

With its reduced dimensions, revised bezel and timing-focused dial, the updated Carrera Chronograph Sport introduces a more contemporary interpretation of TAG Heuer’s modern Carrera formula. The collection retains the model’s sporty identity while giving it a more compact case and a more instrument-oriented display.
