TAG Heuer Presents its Latest Carrera in Red
We live in a time when people and businesses try to reinvent themselves, we are all looking for something different, something that wakes us up and makes our heart beat faster, and the same thing happens with watches, betting in recent years on two explicit trends, on the one side opting for a strategy of reissues based on past successful models, and a second trend focused on the immense varied palette of colours, resulting in an immensity of watches with colourful dials.
And it is in this context that we announce the arrival of the latest TAG Heuer Carrera Red Dial Limited Edition, it is clear that the allusion in the previous paragraph is rather an understatement when we talk about TAG Heuer since regardless of the new red dial, the brand throughout its history, it has a tradition of including several red accents in many of its chronographs, in addition to being today one of the few brands that do not abuse the diversity of tones on its dials.
As is more than evident, the newest member of the Carrera collection comes with a beautiful sunray brushed dial, whose red tones vary depending on its exposure to light, on the dial the usual three registers in the same tone but with a radial pattern, which includes, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock and small seconds at 6 o’clock. Plus rhodium-plated hour markers and central faceted hands filed with Super-LumiNova, an inner ring with a minute and seconds scale and various inscriptions including the brand logo at 12 o’clock printed in white.
On the outside, the chronograph comes in a 38mm diameter stainless steel case, with a smooth bezel, fluted crown and two pushers bottoms, all with a polished finish, domed sapphire crystal on the front and sapphire case back and up to 100m water resistance.
The clutch chronograph is powered by the In-house automatic movement Caliber Heuer 02 that offers up to 80 hours of power reserve and can be seen operating through its open case back, where some accents in red and the skeletonized oscillating weight in black stand out.
Finally, the watch is offered with a black alligator leather strap and steel folding buckle signed with the “Heuer” crest.
A total of 600 pieces will be made available, which can be purchased from the month of July at the brand’s boutiques and official retailers, for the price of €6,400.
Our Opinion
It will certainly not be the cup of tea for many, especially that more conservative public that has gotten used to liking the brand for its strong connections to the world of speed, but it is undoubtedly an elegant chronograph that will not go unnoticed on the wrist of anyone who dares to use it.
Its moderate size of 39mm, although “betrayed” by the narrow and long lugs, will delight not only a more contemporary male audience but also the female audience that is no longer afraid to wear larger watches that were previously connoted as masculine.
