TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Year Of The Fire Horse
As the Chinese Lunar New Year approaches, the watch industry once again turns its attention to the zodiac, with numerous brands unveiling special editions tied to the occasion. This seasonal moment has become a familiar fixture on the calendar, showcasing everything from calendar complications to highly symbolic designs. Following the first releases of the year, TAG Heuer now joins the celebrations in its own signature territory, presenting a chronograph dedicated to the Year of the Fire Horse, which begins on 17 February 2026. The horse, the seventh sign of the Chinese zodiac, is referenced through a combination of symbolic colours and subtle dial details, applied to the modern Carrera Glassbox platform.
Carrera Glassbox case and construction
The watch is based on the 39 mm Carrera Glassbox Chronograph, a design introduced in 2023 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Carrera collection. The defining element of the Glassbox family is its curved sapphire crystal, which extends seamlessly to the edge of the case and is treated with double anti-reflective coating to ensure clear legibility without optical distortion. The stainless steel case features polished and brushed surfaces, elongated lugs, and classic pump-style chronograph pushers. Water resistance is rated to 100 metres.

This edition follows the layout inspired by the historical Carrera Dato 45 reference from 1968, featuring a single 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock and a date display positioned at 9 o’clock.
Dial design and zodiac details
The dial is finished in a champagne-gold tone and framed by an internal tachymeter scale. This scale slopes downward toward a precision seconds track, marked in black with red accents. Applied rose gold-plated hour markers are fitted with small luminous dots at their tips to aid visibility in low-light conditions.

At 3 o’clock, the 30-minute chronograph counter stands out in a vivid red finish, complemented by a subtle gradient and circular graining, along with gold-coloured numerals. The date window at 9 o’clock is outlined in gold and filled with a red background. As a specific nod to the Year of the Horse, the numeral “7” on the date wheel is replaced by the Chinese character representing the horse.
The central hour and minute hands are gold-plated and filled with a thin strip of luminescent material, while the central chronograph seconds hand is rendered in bright red to match the overall colour theme.
Bracelet and movement
The watch is delivered on a stainless steel seven-row beads-of-rice bracelet developed for the Carrera Glassbox line. This bracelet design references historical bracelets produced by Gay Frères in the mid-20th century and combines visual refinement with ergonomic comfort.

Turning the watch over reveals a sapphire crystal caseback engraved with a galloping horse motif. Beneath it lies the automatic calibre TH20-07, a modern column-wheel chronograph movement. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and is equipped with a bidirectional shield-shaped rotor. The movement offers an extended power reserve of approximately 80 hours.
