Studio Underd0g Refreshes The 02Series With New Dials And Mechanical Upgrades

British independent watchmaker Studio Underd0g has unveiled the second generation of its 02Series, refining its distinctive time-only watch with a slimmer case, an upgraded movement, and refreshed dial options. While the overall concept remains faithful to the original model, the latest generation delivers a series of thoughtful improvements aimed at enhancing both wearability and everyday performance.

A Slimmer Case with Improved Proportions

The new Studio Underd0g 02Series retains its compact dimensions but benefits from a more refined profile.

The stainless steel case now measures 37.50 mm in diameter, an increase of just 0.5 mm over its predecessor, while the thickness has been reduced from 12 mm to 11.50 mm. Lug-to-lug distance remains a wearable 46 mm, helping the watch suit a wide range of wrist sizes.

According to the brand, the updated proportions were made possible by tighter manufacturing tolerances following the acquisition of Horologium, the assembly workshop that has now become Studio Underd0g’s own in-house facility, known as The D0ghouse. This also allows the dial to sit closer to the crystal, improving the watch’s overall visual depth.

Manual-Wind Movement with Extended Autonomy

Powering the new 02Series is the Sellita SW200-2 M Power+, replacing the Sellita SW210 used in the previous generation.

Despite the movement typically being automatic, Studio Underd0g removes the oscillating rotor, preserving the manual-winding character of the watch.

The biggest advantage of the new calibre is its increased power reserve, which grows from 42 hours to approximately 63 hours, offering greater convenience between winding sessions while maintaining reliable Swiss mechanical performance.

Signature Layered Dial Refined

One of the defining characteristics of the 02Series remains its innovative layered dial construction.

The watch combines a metallic base dial with a suspended sapphire disc above it, creating impressive depth and a floating visual effect. For the second generation, the printed minute track on the sapphire layer has been repositioned slightly closer to the centre, resulting in a revised set of shorter hands that better complement the updated layout.

Another subtle change appears in the dial text. The previous “Mechanical Hand-Winding” inscription has been replaced by “Assembled in Great Britain,” highlighting the brand’s growing emphasis on domestic assembly at its new workshop.

Four Colourful Dial Variations

The second-generation 02Series is offered in four distinctive dial colours, combining familiar favourites with two new additions. Returning to the collection are the Pink Lem0nade and Steffany Blue variants, which were already popular in the previous generation.

Joining them are the new Nightshade, distinguished by a sunray-brushed purple finish complemented by red accents, and Red L0lly, featuring a vibrant cherry-red appearance. In both new models, the vivid colour effect is created by tinting the upper sapphire disc rather than the base dial, further enhancing the depth and visual complexity of the collection’s signature layered dial construction.

Price and Availability

The new Studio Underd0g 02Series Gen 2 will be available from 7 July through the brand’s official online store.

The collection is priced at € 900.
