Studio Underd0g 02SERIES Mantis: Green By Day, Glowing By Night

Studio Underd0g is introducing the 02SERIES Mantis, a special edition that combines the brand’s updated second-generation case with an exceptionally vivid green dial and an extensive application of Super-LumiNova.

Inspired by the praying mantis, the Mantis takes its visual identity from one of nature’s most distinctive shades of green. Its dial also changes character dramatically between daylight and darkness.

A Green Gradient Dial

The Mantis retains the translucent dial concept that has become an important part of Studio Underd0g’s design language. Its green surface transitions from a lighter shade towards the centre to a deeper green around the perimeter, creating additional depth beneath the applied hour markers.

The markers are filled with yellow luminous material, providing contrast against the green dial while maintaining readability. The translucent construction also gives the markers a floating appearance.

The most distinctive element becomes apparent in low-light conditions. Studio Underd0g has applied seven layers of X1 GL C3 Super-LumiNova across the dial. Rather than limiting lume to the hands and indexes, this extensive application allows the dial itself to become a broad, intensely luminous surface.

The result is a striking uniform green glow that gives the watch an entirely different appearance at night.

Updated 02SERIES Gen2 Case

The Mantis uses Studio Underd0g’s revised Gen2 case, measuring 37.50 mm in diameter and 46 mm from lug to lug. Its thickness has been reduced to 11.50 mm, making the second-generation case slimmer than its predecessor.

The case is manufactured from 316L stainless steel and topped with a sapphire crystal. A signed crown and screw-down caseback complete the construction, while 100 metres of water resistance provide practical protection for everyday wear.

Its compact dimensions also place the Mantis within the current preference for smaller watches, while retaining the playful design language associated with Studio Underd0g.

Sellita Automatic Movement

Powering the 02SERIES Mantis is the Sellita SW200-2 M, an automatic mechanical movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz).

The movement features hacking seconds and provides a 63-hour power reserve, offering extended autonomy when the watch is taken off the wrist.

As with Studio Underd0g’s other watches, assembly takes place in Britain at the brand’s own facility, The D0ghouse.

Forest Green Suede Strap

The green theme continues onto the strap. The Mantis is supplied with a deep forest-green washed suede strap produced by The Strap Tailor in the colour named “Herb.”

It measures 18 mm at the lugs, tapering to 16 mm towards the steel buckle. Quick-release spring bars allow the strap to be removed and replaced without tools.

The darker forest-green tone provides a subtle complement to the much brighter green used across the dial.

A Nine-Hour Release

Unlike the regular 02SERIES models, which are now part of Studio Underd0g’s permanent collection, the Mantis is being offered as a deliberately short-lived special edition.

It will be available exclusively through Studio Underd0g on 1 September, with the sales window running from 3pm until midnight BST—just nine hours. Once that period closes, the model will be discontinued.

A limited number will also be available to customers who arrange an appointment at The D0ghouse.
