Squale Resurrects A Hidden Treasure: Corallo NOS 2008
For collectors and enthusiasts drawn to vintage-inspired engineering with a genuine backstory, the Squale Corallo NOS 2008 is a standout release rooted in both discovery and design authenticity. Unearthed in Squale’s archives were 300 untouched “Corallo” cases originally produced by Swiss case manufacturer MRP SA in the 1980s—unused until now. With these new old stock (NOS) components as the foundation, Squale has constructed a limited series that blends historical craftsmanship with current-day performance standards.

Reclaimed Design with a Purpose
The defining trait of the Corallo is its case silhouette. Made from 316L stainless steel, the case measures 36.80 mm in diameter, 10.50 mm thick, and 44 mm lug-to-lug—a compact, wrist-friendly profile that reflects the classic dive watch proportions of the late 20th century. The case’s most notable feature is the eight-lobed bezel, whose rounded ridges provide enhanced grip and a distinct, rugged aesthetic. This monodirectional aluminum bezel is matched with a domed sapphire crystal, creating a visual balance between vintage curvature and modern durability.

Each case is engraved with its original MRP SA serial number, preserving a piece of 1980s watchmaking history on every timepiece. The tactile and visual cues combine for a watch that feels both purpose-built and collectible.
Dial Variants and Dive-Ready Legibility
The Corallo NOS 2008 is offered in three dial variations, Black with a black dial and a black and sky blue bezel, delivering a traditional and tactical look, Blue with a navy blue dial paired with a matching bezel, giving off a more relaxed, sporty vibe and Sky with a light sky blue dial, also with a black and sky blue bezel, which leans into a more refined, eye-catching palette.

All three feature Super-LumiNova markers, bold Arabic numerals, and a date display at 3 o’clock. The orange-outlined minute hand adds functional clarity for diving applications, ensuring legibility even in low-light underwater environments.
Performance Beneath the Surface
Powering the Corallo is the slim ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement, contributes to the watch’s sleek case dimensions without compromising on robustness. The watch also maintains a 200-meter water resistance rating, aligning it with professional dive watch standards.

Completing the package is a perforated rubber strap by Bonetto Cinturini, designed for aquatic comfort and breathability. The sky blue dial model is further enhanced by the inclusion of a NOS steel bracelet, also recovered from Squale’s archives—limited to just 100 examples.
Limited Availability
The Squale Corallo NOS 2008 is a limited release of 300 pieces, priced at € 2,160. While all three variants share the same build integrity, the sky dial version with the NOS bracelet is offered exclusively through Squale’s official website, making it a particularly rare configuration in this already exclusive lineup.

For a watch built on rediscovered materials, the Corallo NOS 2008 feels less like a reissue and more like a continuation—a story paused decades ago and now resumed with respect for its origins and a sharp eye on function.
