Squale Renews The 1521 Collection With Five New Watches
Squale renews its 1521 Collection with five new watches. Among the novelties is the arrival of a new shade on the dial, a new full luminous dial, two COSC-certified and a premiere with a bronze case.
The five new “1521” as with the other watches in the collection share the same case with dimensions of 42mm in diameter, 12.5mm thick (with the exception of the bronze model) and a lug-to-lug distance of 48mm. Screw-in crown and steel case back, unidirectional bezel, sapphire crystal and 500m water resistance. Inside they all share the same Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement although the two new COSC-certified ones add that new feature.
With regard to the novelties, first, we have the “Green Ray” that features a new tone on the dial, a smoky green that darkens from the centre to the periphery, presenting the traditional printed indices and hands all filled with Super-LumiNova, orange minute hand, date window at 3 o’clock and crown at 4 o’clock. The new green ray is available with a black Tropic rubber strap or a green leather strap, with prices ranging from CHF 994 to CHF 955 respectively.
The second novelty is the new “Full Luminous Militaire”, which is the second model in the collection to come with a fully luminous dial, although it now comes with BGW9 lume, adding printed hour markers including positions 3-6-9-12 in orange, no date window and aluminium bezel insert with all luminous markers. The watch can be purchased with a steel mesh bracelet for CHF 1,250 or with a black Tropic rubber strap for CHF 1,195.
Another novelty is the new “Classic COSC” and “Ocean COSC” which, as the name implies, are COSC certified and are presented with a black and sunray blue dial respectively. These two new watches now feature a brushed finish with polished chamfers instead of the previous general polished finish, applied hour markers instead of the traditional printed indices and a fully lumed aluminium insert bezel.
Either variant comes attached to a black rubber Tropic strap and an additional vegetable-tanned brown leather strap and can be purchased for CHF 1,475.
Finally, the great news is the new 1521 Bronze, which in addition to the bronze case adds a few more surprises. On the outside, the case is 1.5mm thicker, adding up to 14mm thick, bezel with wider teeth and a ceramic insert filled with lume, and crown (now) at 2 o’clock.
On the blue sunray dial, applied hour indexes, orange minute hand and data window which like the crown now “travels” to the 2 o’clock position. The new bronze Squale is attached to a Nylon NATO strap with bronze hardware plus an additional blue leather strap, available from CHF 1,475.
