Sous Marine Is Yema’s Latest Diver’s Watch
At the height of the bathing season, Yema presents us with its latest dive watch called “Sous Marine”, which appears as a modern alternative to its classic and iconic Superman.
The new watch comes with a winning formula, translated into a moderately sized case with five colour variants, 300m water resistance, In-house mechanical movement and at a very competitive price.
On the outside, the new Yema Sous Marine wears a stainless steel case measuring 40.5mm in diameter and 12.20mm thick, with a lug-to-lug distance of 46mm, unidirectional bezel with coloured aluminium insert and fingerboard filled with Super-LumiNova, sapphire crystal and screwed case back embossed with Yema crest, screw-down crown with crown guards and 300m water resistance.
The tone of the dial matches the colour of the bezel in the black, blue and green variants and a black dial in the variants with the orange and yellow bezel. In the dial layout, we can find a white minute chapter ring, followed by a black ring that serves as a seat for the hour markers and which, like the hands, are filled with the same luminescent material as the bezel, a recessed white ring with Arabic numerals and finally, a black centre that, in addition to serving as the basis for the set of three hands, is filled with the inscriptions of the brand’s logo and respective model at noon and with “Automatic” and “990ft” at 6 o’clock referring to the movement and water resistance.
At the heart of the new dive watch is the Caliber Yema 2000 automatic movement, which operates at 28,800 Vph and offers up to 42 hours of power reserve.
The watches can be purchased with an FKM Viton rubber band matching the bezel colour or with a stainless steel Beads-Of-Rice bracelet with a folding clasp, with prices ranging from €890 to €990 respectively. On the 24th of August, the pre-order period begins, with the first deliveries scheduled for the end of September.
Our Opinion
Yema has a long history, with strong links to the military world as with many other well-known watchmaking brands, so it is not surprising that most of its collections are made up of tool watches. However, in recent years, the brand has made an effort to offer more modern alternatives, adapted to everyday life and today it can be proud of having a range of different collections that will hardly leave anyone out.
The new Sous Marine is proof of this, which does not intend to overshadow Superman but rather complement a possible gap in the face of a more contemporary audience.
The “package” that this release offers is surprising. The price is even more appealing, which confirms the idea that we often share here that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a quality dive watch. If I were the competition I would start paying more attention to Yema.
