Solar Autonomy In A Compact Case: The Alpiner Extreme Solarmetre
Alpina expands its integrated sports watch collection with the Alpiner Extreme Solarmetre, marking the first time the brand introduces solar-powered technology to this range. The model retains the strong architectural identity of the Alpiner Extreme line while enhancing practicality through light-powered autonomy and a versatile mid-size case.

Case and Design
The stainless steel case preserves the bold geometry that defines the collection, featuring angular lines, pronounced and symmetrical crown guards, and a vertically brushed bezel secured by six exposed screws engraved with the brand’s mountain emblem. The integrated H-link bracelet continues the cohesive design, flowing seamlessly from the case and reinforcing the watch’s contemporary sports aesthetic. For those seeking a more casual configuration, select references are offered on integrated rubber straps that maintain the streamlined profile of the case.

With a diameter of 37.5mm, the Solarmetre occupies a balanced position within the Alpiner Extreme family, sitting between the smaller 34mm quartz models and the larger 39mm and 41mm automatic versions. The watch measures approximately 38.9mm lug-to-lug and 10.19mm in thickness, proportions that contribute to comfortable wear while preserving a solid wrist presence. Water resistance remains rated at 100 meters, underscoring its suitability for everyday sports use.
Dial and Solar Technology
The dial retains the collection’s recognizable mountain motif pattern but adopts a flatter, translucent construction. This design adjustment allows light to pass through to the solar cells positioned beneath the surface. While the pronounced 3D texture of other versions is absent, the dial maintains a refined and technical appearance, complemented by applied hour markers and luminous hands for clear legibility. A framed date window is positioned at 3 o’clock. A distinctive detail specific to the Solarmetre models is the blue-outlined triangle at 12 o’clock, paired with a matching blue triangular counterweight on the seconds hand.

Movement and Performance
Powering the watch is the AL-140 solar quartz caliber, developed in collaboration with Swiss manufacture La Joux-Perret. The movement is capable of charging through exposure to any light source, not limited to direct sunlight. Approximately one minute of light exposure is sufficient to power the watch for up to a full day, and when fully charged, the movement can operate for up to ten months in complete darkness. This system combines quartz precision with extended energy autonomy while reducing the need for regular battery replacements.

Variants and Availability
At launch, the Alpiner Extreme Solarmetre is available in five references. Two models are delivered on the stainless steel bracelet, featuring either a burgundy dial or a mint green dial. The remaining three versions are fitted with integrated rubber straps and include dark blue and light blue dial options with matching straps, as well as a white dial paired with a black strap. All versions share identical technical specifications.

Pricing
The Alpiner Extreme Solarmetre is priced at € 995 when fitted with the integrated rubber strap and € 1,195 when paired with the stainless steel bracelet. Within the broader Alpiner Extreme collection, it stands as a technically focused alternative to the automatic and standard quartz models, combining solar efficiency with the established integrated sports watch design and robust construction.
