Sinn EZM 19: A Purpose-Built Tool Watch For Mission Timing
Sinn has built much of its reputation around watches designed for specific professional requirements, and the EZM collection remains one of the clearest examples of that approach. Introduced in 1997, the Einsatzzeitmesser, or mission timer, has combined robust construction, high legibility and specialised timing functions across several generations.

The new EZM 19 takes the collection in a different direction, introducing a dial and bezel designed around four-hour operational cycles and the 35-minute briefing period that precedes them.
The Case
The 41 mm case is made from bead-blasted stainless steel and is water-resistant to 200 metres. It features a screw-down crown and case back, while Sinn’s Ar-Dehumidification technology uses a drying capsule to help protect the movement against moisture.

A small indicator near the 10 o’clock lug changes colour according to the level of moisture absorption. The case is also filled with an inert gas, and together with Sinn’s 66-228 special oil, this allows the movement to operate at temperatures as low as -45°C.
The Dial
The EZM 19’s most distinctive feature is its dial, which is organised around the four-hour operational cycle.

The numerals 4, 8 and 12 are presented in a larger format, with double markers at 12, creating three clearly identifiable four-hour sections. These markers are made from luminous ceramic and emit a green glow, while the remaining hour markers use orange-emitting luminous dashes.
Sinn’s familiar handset completes the display, with blue-emitting lume on the hour and minute hands and orange lume on the seconds hand. A small date window at 6 o’clock uses a colour-matched date disc.
The Bezel
The bezel is divided into two timing scales: a 35-minute count-up scale and a four-hour countdown scale.

The first corresponds to the briefing period preceding each operational cycle, while the second is intended for monitoring the duration of the cycle itself.
The bidirectional captive bezel is made from Tegimented steel and finished in black DLC, with a trapezoidal luminous marker providing a clear reference point in low-light conditions.
The Movement
The EZM 19 is powered by the Sellita SW300-1 automatic movement, which offers a 38-hour power reserve.
Its technical construction, including the inert-gas filling system and Ar-Dehumidification technology, is intended to help maintain reliable operation in demanding environments.
Bracelet and Strap Options
The watch is available on a stainless-steel bracelet, a silicone strap or a two-piece nylon strap, offering different approaches to comfort and practicality.

Price and Availability
The Sinn EZM 19 is available through authorised retailers in three configurations: € 2,300 on a stainless-steel bracelet, € 2,160 on a silicone strap and € 1,950 on a two-piece nylon or leather strap.
Our Opinion
The EZM 19 is an interesting development within Sinn’s mission-timer family because it does not simply add another complication to an established format. Instead, it reorganises the watch around a specific operational requirement.
The four-hour dial layout and dual-scale bezel give it a clear identity, while the combination of a 200-metre case, Ar-Dehumidification technology and low-temperature protection supports the technical construction expected from the brand.
It may take some getting used to, but as a purpose-built timing instrument, the EZM 19 offers a distinctive interpretation of the EZM concept.
