Sinn 356 Pilot Chronograph Celebrates 25 Years With Three New Timepieces
Sinn, which this year celebrates the 25th anniversary of the 356 Pilot Chronograph, presents three new models that mark this milestone.
The Sinn 356 chronograph as we know it today arrived on the market in 1998, but in fact, it was born 2 years earlier in a limited edition exclusive to the Japanese market.
The new chronographs arrive with a different layout from the previous 356, which had three counters at 6-9-12 o’clock and a date window at 3 o’clock. The redesigned dials are now more symmetrical and less busy, with a 30-minute register and running seconds at 3 and 6 o’clock respectively and without any date window.
Among the variants, there is the Classic Anniversary which is a limited edition of 500 pieces that comes with an ‘electroplated’ anthracite dial and sunburst silver sub-dials, the Classic AS E which features a ‘matt-silk’ gradient anthracite dial and the Classic W which comes with a ‘matt-silk’ white dial, featuring both black sunburst counters.
There are also some differences to highlight between the three chronographs, on the outside the round case of the limited edition has a sanitized finish while the two regular variants have a bead-blasted finish, the rear case on the first comes with sapphire crystal while the others it has a solid case. On the dial, the brand’s lettering is applied in the limited edition while it is printed on the regular versions, and the internal 1/4 second scale presents small Arabic numerals every 5 seconds on the two variants with darkened dial while on the white version, these markers are replaced by small rectangles every 10 seconds.
Furthermore, the new chronographs share almost the same characteristics, featuring a stainless steel case measuring 38.50mm in diameter and 15mm thick (which in the regular versions adds 0.6mm as a result of their solid rear case), sapphire crystal on the front, crown at 3 o’clock with crown guards and two pushers, and finally 100m water resistance. On the dial, syringe hands and printed Arabic numerals all filled with luminescent material, with the exception of the white version whose numerals do not feature lume, replaced by the rectangles mentioned above. Powered by the Caliber Sellita SW510 automatic movement that operates at 28,800 Vph and offers up to 63 hours of power reserve.
The limited edition comes attached to a brown leather strap and also comes with another extra in its set priced at €2,990, while the two regular versions feature different strap alternatives, with prices ranging from €2,300 for the leather strap option, €2,600 for the rubber strap option and €2,615 for the steel bracelet option.
