Sherpa Watches Unveils Ultradive Moon & Sun Models With Heritage-Inspired Design
Sherpa Watches, a German watch brand known for its unique dive watches, has introduced two new models: the Ultradive Moon and the Ultradive Sun. Drawing on a storied history, Sherpa’s dive watch design harks back to 1956, inspired by the Enicar Ultrasonic, which became iconic after Albert Eggler’s Swiss expedition to Mount Everest and Lhotse. These watches honoured the resilience of the Sherpas, who played an essential role in carrying equipment through extreme conditions, ultimately inspiring the creation of the Sherpa series.
These new Ultradive models, blending the ruggedness of a dive watch with the sophistication of a dress watch, feature polished stainless steel cases measuring 40mm in width and 13.50mm in height. The cases are topped with Glassbox-style sapphire glass and are equipped with two compressor crowns—a crown at 2 o’clock to adjust the inner bezel and another at 4 o’clock for setting the time and winding the movement. The EPSA-STOP bayonet compressor caseback and robust crown guards add to the durability, while the 200-meter water resistance ensures reliability underwater.
Each Ultradive watch features a distinctive domed dial with a sunray-brushed finish. The Ultradive Moon model showcases silver tones, while the Ultradive Sun comes in salmon tones, creating visual versatility for different styles. The faceted indexes have a black surface, with silver sides and Super-LumiNova tips that match the luminescent hands and the double-lollipop second’s hand. A 60-minute bidirectional bezel with an inverted triangle at noon, also luminescent, enhances readability. The design includes a date window at 3 o’clock for added practicality.
Powering both watches is the Mantramatic MM01 automatic movement, an advanced adaptation of the Sellita SW200-1. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 Vph and offers a 38-hour power reserve. Additionally, it features two laser-engraved micro Tibetan Buddhist prayer wheels, symbolizing the brand’s commitment to spiritual and cultural heritage.
The Sherpa Ultradive watches come with Tropic-style vulcanized rubber straps: black for the Moon and beige for the Sun. Each watch includes a premium Italian leather watch roll. Priced at €6,500 for the Moon and €6,600 for the Sun, a portion of each sale supports Sherpa causes in Tibet, reflecting the brand’s continued connection to its roots. Both models are now available, embodying a unique blend of functionality, durability, and refined design for watch enthusiasts seeking a dive watch with a heritage twist.
