Serica Unveils The 5303 PLD: A Dive Chronometer Built For Combat Divers
French watchmaker Serica has unveiled the 5303 PLD, a new dive chronometer designed in collaboration with the French Navy’s EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Divers Association. Short for Plongeur Démineur, this latest addition to Serica’s dive watch line combines mission-specific engineering with historically inspired aesthetics, reaffirming the brand’s reputation for building robust, purpose-driven tool watches.

Functional Design with Military Roots
The 5303 PLD features a 39 mm stainless steel case, executed in a mix of satin and polished finishes. The case is compact and versatile, with a thickness of 12.20 mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 46.50 mm, making it wearable on a wide range of wrists. With a water resistance rating of 300 meters, the watch is built to withstand demanding underwater operations. The case also integrates a soft-iron inner cage, providing antimagnetic protection up to 50,000 A/m — an essential feature for environments where electromagnetic fields can interfere with precision.
Dive-Ready Bezel and Crown Configuration
At the core of the 5303 PLD’s dive functionality is the DT MAX bezel, equipped with a polished blue ceramic insert. This bidirectional bezel incorporates a double scale calibrated for decompression-free dive durations, ensuring divers can safely manage bottom time. An oversized 8 mm screw-down crown, available at either 3 o’clock or 9 o’clock, depending on the chosen configuration, guarantees watertight operation while allowing for a firm grip even when wearing gloves.

High-Contrast Dial for Maximum Legibility
The dial of the 5303 PLD is designed for clarity in the most challenging environments. A glossy black finish sets the stage for Super-LumiNova-filled indices — dots and rectangular markers at cardinal points — all emitting a green glow in low light. The white lacquered hour and minute hands are combined with a lollipop-shaped seconds hand ensures high visibility for timing tasks. Just above 6 o’clock, the dial features the inscription “Chronomètre Amagnétique”, emphasizing both its certified precision and magnetic resistance.

COSC-Certified Precision
Driving the Serica 5303 PLD is the Soprod M100 calibre, a Swiss-made movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a 42-hour power reserve. The movement is COSC-certified, ensuring the high standards of accuracy required for a chronometer-grade instrument — a key advantage for professional and enthusiast divers alike.

Two Strap Options Built for the Mission
Serica offers the 5303 PLD with two strap options designed for function and versatility. The first is a mesh-style stainless steel bracelet with a brushed and polished finish to match the case. The second is a PLD nylon strap, inspired by vintage French military dive straps. It features a rugged, parachute-style construction and a re-engineered buckle for improved comfort and security during active wear.
