Serica Ref. 5330 Dive Chronometer – The Brand’s First Date-Equipped Dive Watch
French independent brand Serica expands its lineup of vintage-inspired tool watches with the introduction of the Ref. 5330 Dive Chronometer, a new dive watch that brings a feature previously absent from the brand’s dive collection: a date complication.

While the presence of a date window on dive watches has long been debated among enthusiasts, it also reflects how most dive watches are used today. Although designed for underwater use, many spend the majority of their time in everyday settings, where a date display can be a practical addition.
Importantly, this new model does not replace the brand’s no-date diver, the Serica Ref. 5303 Dive Chronometer, which remains part of the permanent collection for those who prefer a more traditional symmetrical dial layout.
Case and Diving Specifications
The Ref. 5330 shares the same case architecture as the 5303, retaining the compact and balanced proportions that have become a signature of Serica’s dive watches. The stainless steel case measures 39 mm in diameter, with a thickness of 12 mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 46.50 mm, dimensions that contribute to comfortable everyday wear.

Visually, the case combines a predominantly brushed finish with subtle polished accents. The twisted lugs feature polished chamfers that add refinement to the otherwise utilitarian design. Built for serious diving use, the watch is equipped with a screw-down crown, and caseback, and a 2 mm thick double-domed sapphire crystal. Together, these elements ensure a water resistance rating of 300 meters, placing it firmly within the category of professional dive watches.
Updated Bezel Design
One of the most noticeable updates on the Ref. 5330 is its revised bezel design. The watch uses a unidirectional bezel with 120 clicks, designed for accurate and secure timing when diving or measuring elapsed time.

For this model, Serica introduces a new ceramic bezel insert in anthracite grey, featuring a subtle faded effect that enhances the watch’s vintage-inspired aesthetic. The bezel now displays a classic 60-minute count-up scale, making it more aligned with traditional dive watch timing functions while preserving the dual-scale concept seen in earlier models.
Dial Layout and the New Date Display
The most significant change appears on the dial, where the Ref. 5330 introduces a date window at 3 o’clock. The date is displayed on a white disc with red numerals, adding a small but distinctive touch of color to the otherwise monochromatic dial.

Rather than simply adding a date aperture, Serica adjusted the dial layout to preserve legibility and visual balance. The minute track has been slightly repositioned, ensuring that the date display remains easy to read without interfering with the clarity of the time display.
The dial itself features a matte black finish and retains several recognizable design elements from previous Serica dive watches, including the broad arrow handset. All of these elements are filled with cream-toned Super-LumiNova, providing strong visibility in low-light conditions and reinforcing the watch’s vintage-inspired appearance.
Movement and Chronometer Certification
Inside the Ref. 5330 beats the Swiss-made SoProd M100 automatic movement, an automatic calibre operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offering a power reserve of approximately 42 hours, the movement delivers reliable daily performance. In addition, it is chronometer-certified by the COSC, confirming that it meets strict accuracy standards.
Bracelet and Strap Options
The watch is delivered with Serica’s Vesper stainless steel bracelet, which is characterized by its flat mesh profile and modular lug construction. To improve comfort and fit, the bracelet is offered in three different sizes.

Alongside the bracelet, Serica also includes an elastic nylon strap in white and red, providing a lighter and sportier alternative that complements the watch’s tool-watch character.
Price and Availability
The Serica Ref. 5330 Dive Chronometer joins the brand’s permanent collection and is priced at € 1,690.
By introducing a date complication while maintaining the same compact dimensions, robust dive specifications, and chronometer-certified movement, Serica expands the versatility of its dive watch lineup while preserving the functional design language that defines the brand’s tool watches.
