Seiko’s Latest Alpinist GMT Returns To Its Roots With A Green Dial
Seiko continues to build on the success of its modern Alpinist GMT lineup with the introduction of the new Seiko Alpinist GMT HBC007, a model that finally brings the collection closer to its roots by adopting the iconic green dial and gilt accents that made the Alpinist a cult favorite among enthusiasts.
The latest addition joins the growing Alpinist GMT family, which first debuted in 2023 with the blue-dial SPB377 and black-dial SPB379, followed in 2025 by the Asia-exclusive limited edition SPB493 featuring a textured black dial inspired by hornbill feathers. Now, Seiko returns to familiar territory with a design that pays tribute to the beloved original Alpinist aesthetic while retaining the practical GMT functionality introduced two years ago.
The Return Of The Classic Green Alpinist Dial
The biggest highlight of the new HBC007 is undoubtedly its dial. Seiko has equipped the watch with the traditional emerald green dial that collectors immediately associate with legendary Alpinist references such as the SARB017 and the current SPB121.

The rich green surface is complemented by gilt accents throughout, including the applied hour markers, cathedral-shaped hands, and minute track details. The combination creates a warm vintage-inspired appearance while preserving the adventurous spirit that has defined the Alpinist collection since its debut in 1961.
Like its GMT siblings, the watch features a central red GMT hand that tracks a second time zone, a date window positioned at 4:30, and the signature internal rotating compass bezel operated via the secondary crown at 4 o’clock.
Familiar Case Dimensions
On the outside, the HBC007 retains the same case architecture introduced with the SPB377 and SPB379.
Crafted from stainless steel with alternating brushed and polished surfaces, the case measures: 39.50 mm in diameter, 13.60 mm thick, and 46.40 mm lug-to-lug.

Additional features include a sapphire crystal protecting the dial, a fixed 24-hour bezel, two fluted crowns, a see-through screw-down case back, and a water resistance rating of 200 meters, making it suitable for both everyday wear and outdoor adventures.
Powered By The Proven Caliber 6R54
Inside, Seiko once again relies on the automatic Caliber 6R54, the same movement found across the current Alpinist GMT collection.

The 24-jewel movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and provides up to 72 hours of power reserve. It also offers an independently adjustable GMT hand, allowing travelers to track a second time zone with ease.
Sustainable Leather Strap
Another notable update comes in the form of a new dark brown leather strap that accompanies the watch.
The strap is certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG), reflecting Seiko’s ongoing efforts to incorporate more sustainable materials into its collections. The rich brown tone pairs perfectly with the green dial and further enhances the watch’s vintage-inspired character.
Availability And Price
The new Seiko Alpinist GMT HBC007 will arrive at authorized retailers in July 2025 and will become a permanent member of the Seiko Prospex collection.
Unlike the limited-edition SPB493, the HBC007 will be widely available and is priced at GBP 1,100.

Final Thoughts
The arrival of the HBC007 feels like a natural evolution of the Alpinist GMT collection. While the SPB377, SPB379, and SPB493 each offered their own interpretation of the adventure watch, many enthusiasts have been waiting for a GMT variant that embraces the classic green-and-gold formula that made the Alpinist famous.
By combining the traditional Alpinist aesthetic with the practical GMT complication, robust 200-meter water resistance, and reliable 6R54 movement, Seiko may have just delivered the most desirable regular-production Alpinist GMT yet.
