Seiko x PADI: Three New Prospex Dive Watches Celebrate The Spirit Of The Sea
Seiko expands its Prospex collection with three new automatic diver’s watches, offering a blend of historical design and modern performance. Two of the models are Special Editions developed in collaboration with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), reinforcing Seiko’s long-standing partnership with the global diving community. The releases include the SPB501 Diver’s Watch 1965 Heritage PADI Special Edition, the SRPL53 “Samurai” Diver’s Watch Mechanical PADI Special Edition, and the standard SRPL51 “Samurai” Diver’s Watch Mechanical in a new blue colorway.

SPB501: Honoring the 1965 Legacy in PADI Green
The SPB501 is a modern reinterpretation of Seiko’s first-ever dive watch from 1965, now presented in a distinctive PADI edition. Its 40 mm stainless steel case is compact yet robust, with a 46.40 mm lug-to-lug length and 13 mm thickness. This special edition features an emerald green dial and a matching aluminum bezel insert. The dial’s texture emulates the depth and movement of ocean water, fading darker toward the lower half — a nod to what divers visually experience below the surface.

The watch is powered by the In-house Caliber 6R55, operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (vph), with a 72-hour power reserve and 24 jewels. It offers a water resistance of 300 meters and comes on a stainless steel three-row bracelet, coated for scratch resistance and equipped with Seiko’s enhanced clasp. The clasp features a wetsuit extension and a six-step toolless micro-adjustment mechanism. An additional green Seichu fabric strap, made from upcycled fishing nets, is included. Price: € 1,700.
SRPL53: A Contemporary Samurai in PADI Colors
Next is the SRPL53, a Special Edition within the “Samurai” sub-line of the Prospex family. Known for its angular design and modern proportions, the Samurai brings a bold identity to Seiko’s dive watch range. The SRPL53 continues the PADI partnership with the same emerald green gradient dial and matching bezel found on the SPB501. The case measures 41.70 mm in diameter, 49.50 mm in length, and 12.30 mm in thickness — offering a slightly larger footprint while remaining wearable for most wrist sizes.

The timepiece runs on the Seiko Caliber 4R35, an automatic movement with 23 jewels, a 41-hour power reserve, and a 21,600 vph beat rate. It’s water-resistant to 200 meters and fitted with a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp. Oversized LumiBrite-filled markers and a spear-shaped hour hand enhance underwater visibility. Price: € 670.
SRPL51: Classic Blue Samurai Joins the Lineup
Completing the trio is the SRPL51, a non-limited addition to the Samurai series. It shares the same specifications as the SRPL53, including the 4R35 automatic movement, case dimensions, and water resistance. What sets it apart is the matte blue dial and bezel, offering a classic look popular among dive watch enthusiasts.

The SRPL51 maintains the same handset and luminous pentagonal markers as its green counterpart. Its dial layout retains the lower placement of the Prospex logo, distinguishing it from the PADI edition, where the logo is positioned on the upper half to make room for the PADI insignia. Price: € 650.
A Continued Commitment to Professional Divers
With these new releases, Seiko underscores its dedication to professional divers and enthusiasts alike. The PADI editions continue to celebrate a trusted partnership with the world’s leading dive training organization, while the updated Samurai models demonstrate the brand’s ability to evolve both heritage and contemporary design language.
