Seiko Unveils New Astron GPS Solar 3X62 Collection Inspired By The Cosmos

Seiko has unveiled three new models in its Astron GPS Solar 3X62 collection, each inspired by celestial bodies. These new timepieces feature a titanium case with an integrated bracelet, grained dials, and are powered by solar energy with GPS signal reception for precise time zone adjustment. Designed with a planetary theme, the three models each represent a different celestial entity.

The Seiko Astron GPS Solar 3X62 SSJ023 comes with a deep blue dial, symbolizing Earth, while the SSJ025 features a deep grey dial inspired by the Moon. For the SSJ026, a grey dial with gold accents mimics the Sun, creating a striking contrast.

Each watch is housed in a sharp titanium case, measuring 42mm in diameter, 12mm thick, and 47.90mm long. The case has a brushed finish on its surfaces, with polished slopes, giving it a refined look. A two-layer bezel adds to the design, with the lower section made from aluminium matching the dial colour (except the SSJ026, which features a gold bezel), and the upper layer crafted from titanium with six notches for added texture. The watches feature a sapphire crystal for durability, a crown positioned at 3 o’clock flanked by two block-shaped pushers, and a solid case back. They are water-resistant up to 100 meters, making them suitable for various activities.

The dials are visually captivating, with a textured centre and a smooth darkened peripheral ring where the indexes, filled with LumiBrite for visibility in low light, are placed. The semi-open faceted hands match the indexes, and there’s a framed date window next to the crown, along with a power reserve indicator at 8 o’clock that includes a flight-mode display.

Under the hood, these Seiko watches are powered by the Quartz 3X62 movement, which harnesses both natural and artificial solar energy. This movement ensures GPS signal reception for automatic time zone adjustment and provides exceptional accuracy. When fully charged, the movement offers up to six months of power reserve, making it highly reliable for everyday wear.
