Seiko Prospex Expands Solar Speedtimer Line With Three New Watches
Seiko Prospex has just expanded its Solar Speedtimer line with three new 41mm chronographs that evoke motorsports.
The new watches that arrive in a stainless steel case do not add anything new other than the new dial and bezel colours, one of which comes in a two-tone case.
So on the outside, the new chronographs come in a mainly brushed round case with dimensions of 41.40mm in diameter, 13mm in thickness and 45.90mm lug-to-lug distance, fixed tachymeter bezel that features coloured aluminium insert, curved sapphire glass, fluted crown at 3 o’clock flanked by two pushers, screwed solid case back and 100m water resistance.
There is also nothing new on the dial, presenting the usual layout with 3 registers at 3-6-9 o’clock substantiated by a 24-hour counter, a 60-minute register that integrates a power reserve indicator and a running seconds respectively. Date window at 4:30, applied hour markers and hands all filled with Lumibrite and a chronograph centre seconds hand that works in partnership with the 1/5th second chapter ring.
As for the different variants, the “Grand Touring” SSC939 comes with a black dial, blue bezel and 3-link steel bracelet with folding clasp, and the “Circuit Race” SSC941 comes in a two-tone case with gold-plated bezel, crown and pushers, black dial with gilt accents, black bezel and the same steel bracelet as the blue version, and finally, the “Racing Sports” SSC943 features a champagne dial with black counters, green bezel and a “rally” type strap in black leather with a pin buckle.
Inside the watches we once again find the solar-powered V192 movement which comes with an accuracy of -15 to +15 seconds per month and when fully charged offers a duration of up to 6 months.
The watches are now available at official Seiko boutiques and authorized retailers with prices starting at £590 and going up to £620 for the gold-plated variant.
