Seiko Presents Presage SPB329 and SPB331 Limited Editions
Seiko has just announced two new creations of its Presage Sharp Edged model, which pays homage to “Kabuki”, a Japanese theatre with origins in the 17th century during the “Edo” period and which continues to this day. The watches were designed in collaboration with Ebizo Ichikawa, one of Kabuki’s most prominent actors.
The watches are distinguished by their textured dial with the Japanese hemp leaf pattern known as Asanoha, used in the manufacture of Kabuki costumes, in reddish-brown persimmon colour, known as “Kakiiro” which is the traditional Japanese colour. The same hue that extends to the back of the leather strap, a subtlety, since in the Edo period the use of vivid colours in public was not allowed and therefore they were limited to the inside of the garments.
In order to make it easier to read the hours, taking into account that the dial edge is dark, the applied hour markers and faceted hands come in gold, the latter being filled with Lumibrite.
Both watches come with the same crisp and angular case design, in stainless steel with a black hard coating, the SPB329 comes equipped with the Caliber 6R21 which operates at 28,800 Vph and which incorporates day, date and power reserve indicators at 3, 6 and 9 hours respectively, while the SPB331 comes equipped with the Caliber 6R35 which operates at 21,600 Vph and which offers, in addition to the hours, a date window at 3 o’clock.
Finally, the watches are offered with a black leather strap on the outside, with a three-fold clasp, and each is a limited edition of 2,000 pieces that will be available from October at the brand’s official boutiques and some authorized retailers worldwide.
