Seiko Presage Presents Two New Arita Porcelain Dials
Seiko through its Presage line presents two new watches with the Arita Porcelain dials.
Arita is a small town in Kyushu in southwest Japan, which since the 17th century has been known for its production of high-quality porcelain pieces.
The production of Arita porcelain dials is made using highly durable porcelain material, four times harder than normal porcelain, which is melted at a temperature of 1,300 degrees and then glazed and fired multiple times until the process is complete and thus obtaining the desired result.
The two new watches, whose main dish is their porcelain dials, also stand out for their concave centre with almost 1mm of unevenness, which generates a very attractive visual effect. Completing the dial, Roman hour markers and leaf hands in shades of blue, as also happens with the inscriptions of the brand at 12 o’clock and the line “Presage” preceded by “Automatic” at 6 o’clock.
While the SPB293 stands out for its pure white porcelain dial, the SPB319 stands out for its faint lapis lazuli colours created by a traditional dyeing technique called “ruri zome”.
Outside, 40.5mm by 12.4mm stainless steel case, smooth bezel, dual-curved sapphire crystal, crown with brand logo and 100m water resistance.
Inside, it is powered by the automatic movement Caliber 6R31 that offers up to 70 hours of power reserve and can be seen through the open case back.
Lastly, the SPB293 is offered with a steel bracelet and the SPB319 comes with a black leather strap.
