Seiko pays tribute to the first Olympic gold medalist skateboarder Yuto Horigome with a limited edition Seiko 5 Sports.
The exclusive watch arrives with a stealthy appearance thanks to the case and bracelet that come with a black coating whose tone also extends to the dial and contrasts with a two-tone bezel insert in blue and violet.
On the outside, we once again find the stainless steel case in the shape of the iconic SKX, which is 42.50mm in diameter and 13.60mm thick, with a 24-hour bidirectional bezel which works in partnership with the GMT hand, Hardlex crystal with cyclops above the date window, crown at 4 o’clock flanked by built-in case guards, open case back and 100m water resistance.
On the dial, we can find hour markers with the usual geometric shapes that, like the four central hands, which include an extra red arrow-shaped GMT hand, are filled with LumeBright. A 24-hour chapter ring, a date window at three o’clock with a white background and the brand’s lettering followed by the logo of its 5 Sports line at noon and the inscriptions ‘Automatic’ related to the movement followed by ‘GMT’ in red at 6 o’clock.
The screwed rear glass reveals the Caliber 4R34 automatic movement, which operates at 21,600 Vph and offers up to 41 hours of power reserve.
The watch is attached to a 5-link Jubilee-type bracelet with a folding clasp, limited to 2,700 pieces and priced at €570.
