Seiko Launches Astron GPS Médecins Sans Frontières Limited Edition
Seiko has introduced a limited edition Astron GPS watch to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the global non-profit organization dedicated to providing medical and humanitarian aid in crisis zones. Limited to just 800 pieces, this exclusive timepiece is designed in MSF’s signature colors, featuring bold red accents on the case and dial, contrasted by a clean white finish on both the case and bracelet.
The watch is crafted from lightweight yet durable titanium, with a case measuring 43.30mm in diameter, 13.40mm in thickness, and 49.50mm in length. It is equipped with dual sapphire crystals, a bezel with a white ceramic insert, and a matching ceramic crown cap, flanked by two block pushers. The solid screwed case back is engraved with the MSF logo, the “Limited Edition 1/800” marking, and the inscription “In Support of Médecins Sans Frontières,” reinforcing its exclusivity. With a water resistance of up to 100 meters, this chronograph is built to withstand daily wear.
The transparent white silvery dial features a well-structured layout with three registers positioned at 6, 9, and 12 o’clock. The sub-dials at 6 and 12 o’clock are dedicated to the stopwatch function, surrounded by a thin red ring that complements the red accents on the bezel, pushers, and the tip of the central seconds hand. Applied indexes and hands filled with Lumibrite enhance legibility, while a discreet date window is positioned at 4:30.
Powering the watch is the advanced Caliber 5X83 quartz movement with GPS Solar technology, offering an impressive accuracy of +/- 15 seconds per month. This movement eliminates the need for battery replacements and, when fully charged, delivers up to six months of power.
Completing the design is an integrated titanium bracelet featuring white ceramic central links that seamlessly match the case. The bracelet is secured with a folding clasp engraved with Seiko’s signature. Adding to its uniqueness, the timepiece is presented in a special edition white box with red details, inspired by a First Aid kit, emphasizing its connection to MSF’s life-saving mission. Made from 100% recycled polyester, the packaging reflects the organization’s humanitarian values. Priced at GBP 2,790, the Seiko Astron GPS Médecins Sans Frontières limited edition stands as a tribute to five decades of global medical aid and humanitarian efforts.
