Seiko Expands the Prospex Speedtimer Collection with a New Limited Edition
Seiko has just added a new chronograph to its Prospex Speedtimer collection.
Inspired by the design of the first stopwatch conceived for timing the Winter Olympics games in Sapporo (Japan) in 1972, the new chronograph is distinguished by its black dial with orange accents designed to facilitate reading the time on snow.
So the latest member of the Speedtimer family presents a stainless steel case with a hard black coating of 42.5mm in diameter by 15.1mm thick, a smooth bezel, sapphire glass, a fluted crown flanked by two pump-style pushers and 100 meters of water resistance.
The sandblasted black dial comes with an outer ring tachymeter scale, printed orange hour markers and pencil hands all filled with lumibrite, which together with the colour of the case and dial set it apart from other three Speedtimer, we remind you that all of them come with applied hour markers and faceted sword hands. The dial also features running seconds at 3 o’clock, 30 minute counter at 9, a date window at 6, the brand’s usual inscriptions at 12 o’clock, and the Prospex logo (X) followed by “Automatic” at 6 o’clock.
Inside, just like its older brothers, it comes equipped with the Caliber 8R46 automatic movement, which operates at 28,800 Vph and offers up to 45 hours of power reserve, which can be seen through the open case back.
The chronograph is offered with a black calfskin strap and will be available in official brand boutiques and authorized retailers from February 2023 limited to 600 units.
