Seiko Celebrates Sega’s 65 Years With A Vintage-Inspired Chronograph
To celebrate 65 years of gaming heritage, Seiko and Sega have introduced a commemorative chronograph that combines vintage-inspired design with subtle references to the iconic video game brand. Rather than overwhelming the dial with graphics, the watch integrates Sega elements in a restrained and carefully balanced way, while relying on a proven quartz chronograph platform.

Case and Overall Design
The Seiko x Sega 65th Anniversary Model is built around a 39 mm stainless steel case, a diameter that sits comfortably within modern proportions while echoing classic chronograph dimensions of the 1960s. The case features the traditional chronograph layout, with the start and stop pusher positioned at 2 o’clock and the reset pusher at 4 o’clock. A date window is discreetly placed at 4:30, preserving the symmetry of the dial without overcrowding it.
Two distinct versions are available.

The first comes in a stainless steel case and matching bracelet, paired with a panda-style dial configuration. The base dial is white, contrasted by blue subdials and a blue tachymeter scale positioned on the rehaut. The hour and minute hands are metallic, while the central chronograph seconds hand, along with the subdial hands, features a gold-toned finish. The Seiko logo also appears in a gilded tone, adding warmth to the otherwise cool blue-and-white palette. The Sega logo is printed in its signature blue beneath the Seiko branding.

The second version adopts a darker aesthetic. It features a black-coated stainless steel case and bracelet—most likely treated with a PVD finish. The dial is black with gray hour markers, while the subdials remain black but are framed with blue accents that coordinate with the blue tachymeter rehaut. All hands, along with the Seiko logo, are rendered in a uniform steel-gray tone, giving the watch a more monochromatic and contemporary appearance. As with the panda version, the Sega logo appears in blue.
In both models, the Arabic numerals are styled in a typeface that reflects Sega’s recognizable branding. A small Sonic silhouette is subtly integrated within the chronograph register at 6 o’clock, offering a discreet nod to the franchise without dominating the design.
Movement: Seiko Caliber 7T92
Inside the case is the Seiko Caliber 7T92 quartz chronograph movement, a well-established and reliable caliber within Seiko’s quartz lineup. This movement drives a central chronograph seconds hand, while the register at 6 o’clock combines minute and hour tracking for elapsed time. At 12 o’clock, a dedicated register measures 1/20th of a second, providing a higher level of timing precision than standard quartz chronographs.
