Seiko Celebrates 145 Years With The New Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver HBC005 And Samurai HBB001
To mark the 145th anniversary of the brand founded by Seiko in 1881, the Japanese watchmaker introduces two new limited-edition Prospex divers dressed in the iconic “Seiko Blue” colour theme. The new Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver HBC005 and Prospex Samurai HBB001 combine vintage-inspired aesthetics with modern specifications, continuing the brand’s tradition of anniversary releases tied to its rich diving heritage.
Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver HBC005
The new Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver HBC005 takes inspiration from Seiko’s legendary 62MAS, the brand’s first dive watch introduced in 1965. The watch is based on the updated 2024 reinterpretation, featuring a more compact and refined case design.
Crafted from stainless steel with Seiko’s super-hard coating, the case measures 40 mm in diameter, 13 mm thick and 46.40 mm lug-to-lug, offering balanced proportions suitable for everyday wear. Water resistance is rated at 300 metres, reinforcing its credentials as a true professional dive watch.

One of the defining elements of this anniversary edition is the blue aluminium bezel insert, paired with a silver-white textured dial featuring embossed luminous hour markers. The blue central seconds hand adds another subtle nod to the anniversary colour theme while enhancing the overall contrast of the display.
Powering the watch is the automatic Calibre 6R55, offering a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and an extended power reserve of approximately 72 hours.

The HBC005 is fitted with a three-link stainless steel bracelet equipped with Seiko’s updated clasp system featuring an integrated micro-adjustment mechanism. The clasp allows quick adjustment across a 15mm range in six 2.5mm increments through side pushers, improving comfort during daily wear or diving activities.
Limited to 4,000 pieces worldwide, the Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver HBC005 will be available from June 2026 with a retail price of € 1,500.
Prospex Samurai HBB001
Joining the anniversary collection is the new Prospex Samurai HBB001, a limited edition based on the updated Samurai platform introduced in 2024.
Known for its angular case architecture and strong wrist presence, the modern Samurai now comes in a more wearable 41.70 mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 12.30 mm and a 49.50 mm lug-to-lug distance. Despite its refined proportions, the watch retains the sharp design language that made the Samurai collection popular among dive watch enthusiasts.

The unidirectional bezel features a distinctive two-tone aluminium insert, combining a silver-toned 0–15-minute scale with Seiko Blue colouring for the remainder of the dive scale.
The dial continues the anniversary theme with a vertically brushed silver finish, large applied hour markers filled with LumiBrite and a matching blue seconds hand. Legibility remains a strong focus, staying true to the Prospex collection’s tool-watch identity.

Inside, the Samurai HBB001 is powered by the reliable automatic Calibre 4R35, operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and delivering approximately 40 hours of power reserve.
The watch is paired with a stainless steel three-link bracelet secured by a folding clasp and offers 200 metres of water resistance.
Limited to 9,999 pieces, the Seiko Prospex Samurai HBB001 will also arrive in June 2026 and will retail for € 650.
Final Thoughts
With these two anniversary editions, Seiko combines classic Prospex dive watch DNA with contemporary proportions and practical upgrades. The HBC005 delivers a more premium interpretation of the historic 62MAS lineage, while the Samurai HBB001 offers a sportier and more accessible alternative, both unified by the distinctive Seiko Blue anniversary accents.
