Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual Time Chronograph Now In Gray Ceramic
Seiko expands its Astron GPS Solar collection with two new Dual Time Chronograph models that introduce a new material to the range: gray ceramic. The HAB007 and HAB008 combine ceramic components with titanium construction, GPS satellite timekeeping and a solar-powered chronograph, creating two distinctly technical interpretations of the modern Astron.

While both references share the same architecture and Caliber 5X83, their different treatments give each a separate character. The HAB007 takes a predominantly gray approach, while the HAB008 combines dark titanium with blue accents for a more contrasting appearance.
Titanium and Gray Ceramic
The most notable change is the introduction of gray ceramic to the Astron collection. The material is used for the bezel, crown cap and centre links of the bracelet, where its lustrous surface contrasts with the surrounding titanium.

The HAB007 pairs these elements with conventional gray titanium, producing a monochromatic appearance. The HAB008 takes a darker route, combining the gray ceramic with titanium finished in an almost-black super-hard coating.
The 43.24 mm cases measure 13.40 mm in thickness and use titanium to keep the watches relatively light despite their substantial dimensions. The bezels also feature a series of grooves around their outer edge, aligned with the hour markers and adding another technical detail to the design.
Both models are fitted with vertically textured dials, giving the otherwise restrained colour schemes additional depth. The HAB008 introduces blue detailing, providing a subtle contrast against its darker surroundings.
GPS Solar Technology
At the heart of both watches is Seiko’s Caliber 5X83, a GPS Solar movement introduced in 2024. It combines light-powered operation with satellite connectivity, allowing the watch to automatically adjust its time and time zone.

The movement can connect to GPS satellites up to twice a day when sufficient signal is available and supports 38 time zones. A time-transfer function also allows the wearer to switch between local and home time while travelling.
When the watch is unable to connect to a GPS signal, its stated accuracy is approximately ±15 seconds per month. The perpetual calendar is programmed to remain accurate through to 2100.
The integrated chronograph measures elapsed time in 1/5-second increments, with a maximum measurement of 12 hours.
A Distinctive Chronograph Layout
The Caliber 5X83 also determines the unusual arrangement of the dial indications. Its sub-dials are positioned at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock, creating a layout that immediately distinguishes these Astron models from more conventional chronographs.

The configuration accommodates the movement’s combination of chronograph, dual-time and GPS functions while reinforcing the technical identity that has long characterised the Astron collection.
The result is a watch where the technology is not hidden beneath the surface but becomes an integral part of the design.
Availability and Price
The Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual Time Chronograph HAB007 is priced at € 3,000, while the darker HAB008 is priced at € 3,200.
