Seiko 5 Sports Celebrates Its 55th Anniversary With Peanuts
This year marks the 55th anniversary of the Seiko 5 Sports and the Japanese brand wanted to do it in the best way by launching, in partnership with PEANUTS, two limited editions of two iconic models, the SKX Sports Style and Field Sports Style.
Each of the models shows Snoopy on different adventures, while in the SKX the character appears next to a surfboard and in the case back surfing the waves, in the Field he appears flying like a helicopter with his beagle ears working propeller and with his friend Woodstock as a pilot and in the case back Woodstock flying with a parachute.
Each of the watches comes in special packaging with the inside of the cover being drawn with the story in comics.
Thus, the SRPK25 wears a steel case measuring 38mm in diameter, 12.1mm thick and 44.2mm L2L with the SKX design, featuring a unidirectional bezel, crown at 4 o’clock signed with a paw design, front hardlex glass, transparent case back where place the animated sticker and 100 meters of water resistance.
The white dial, in addition to the background with the drawing of Snoopy on the beach hidden behind the surfboard, comes with the traditional layout, of printed hour markers and hands filled with Lumibrite, an orange centre seconds hand and a day-date window at three hours.
Inside operates the 4R36 automatic movement that reaches 21,600 Vph and offers up to 40 hours of power reserve.
The watch is attached to a grey nylon strap with a white central stripe.
This model is limited to 8,900 units and can be purchased for €440.
The SRPK27 is presented in a steel case measuring 36.40 mm in diameter, 12.5 mm thick and 44.40 mm L2L with the Field design, smooth bezel, fluted crown at 3 o’clock also with the signature of a paw, front hardlex glass, case back transparent with the animated sticker and 100 meters of water resistance.
The white dial is designed with Snoopy and Woodstock flying, and the usual Type B pilot dial layout with a central 12-hour scale and a peripheral 60-minute scale. Hour hands and indices filled with Lumibrite, a centre seconds hand with a yellow tip and a day-date window at 3 o’clock.
Inside it comes with exactly the same Caliber 4R36 mentioned above and therefore with the same characteristics.
The watch is attached to a black calfskin strap.
This model is limited to 6,500 units and can be purchased for a price of €430.
