With the Resolute Type A, Singapore-based microbrand RZE expands its adventure-driven portfolio into the world of pilot watches. Known for producing lightweight titanium tool watches with enhanced surface hardness, the brand now applies its established material expertise to a classic Type A flieger layout, placing emphasis squarely on legibility, durability, and everyday usability.

A Clear Interpretation of the Type A Dial

The Resolute Type A follows the traditional German Type A (B-Uhr) pilot watch configuration, a layout originally developed for optimal readability in aviation settings. The dial features large Arabic numerals marking the hours, combined with the characteristic triangle flanked by two dots at 12 o’clock for instant orientation. The sword-style hands are generously filled with luminous material, and the minute track is clearly defined to allow precise time reading at a glance.

RZE constructs the dial using a sandwich design, which adds visual depth while improving nighttime legibility. The cut-out numerals and indices reveal a luminous base layer beneath, ensuring strong low-light performance thanks to ample Super-LumiNova application. Rather than leaning heavily into vintage cues, the brand integrates modern typography and angular handset detailing, giving the watch a contemporary technical character while maintaining the core pilot-watch identity.

Three Distinct Dial Variants

The Resolute Type A launches with three dial options, each offering a different visual character while preserving the same functional layout.

The textured yellow dial stands out as the boldest execution. Its coarse surface is framed by a contrasting black minute track with crisp white markings, reinforcing visibility and adding depth to the overall design. This version is paired with RZE’s titanium HexLink bracelet, enhancing its tool-watch appeal.

The matte black dial delivers the most traditional interpretation of the pilot aesthetic. Cream-toned luminous numerals contrast against the dark background, closely echoing classic flieger designs. An orange seconds hand introduces a subtle yet effective touch of color, improving legibility without disrupting the watch’s restrained appearance. This variant is fitted to a black TecTuff strap.

The glossy white dial offers a more modern and minimalist approach. Its monochromatic base is accented by a yellow seconds hand with a lumed tip, providing a discreet but practical visual highlight. This version comes paired with a green TecTuff strap, adding a subtle utilitarian edge.

Titanium Case and UltraHex Coating

The 39.50 mm case of the Resolute Type A is crafted from Grade 2 titanium, a material selected for its light weight and strength. As with all RZE watches, it is treated with the brand’s proprietary UltraHex coating, designed to significantly enhance scratch resistance and protect the surface from daily wear.

Visually, the case combines a rounded bezel with a flat mid-case and sharply angled lugs, creating a balanced profile that blends functional robustness with modern geometry. The caseback is secured by four screws and incorporates a partial sapphire crystal window, offering a view of the movement inside while maintaining structural integrity.

Automatic Movement

Powering the Resolute Type A is the Miyota 82S0 automatic movement. Operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz), it provides approximately 40 hours of power reserve. The 82S0 is widely regarded as a reliable and serviceable workhorse caliber, frequently used within the microbrand segment due to its durability and cost efficiency. Its inclusion supports the watch’s accessible pricing while ensuring dependable mechanical performance.

Strap and Bracelet Options

RZE offers the Resolute Type A on either a TecTuff strap or the brand’s HexLink titanium bracelet. The TecTuff strap features a synthetic upper layer bonded to a calfskin lining, combining durability with comfort on the wrist. It is secured by a titanium pin buckle, maintaining material consistency with the case.

The HexLink bracelet is constructed from the same Grade 2 titanium as the case and also benefits from the UltraHex coating. Its five-link design features flat-topped, angular links that echo the watch’s case geometry. The bracelet includes quick-release functionality and is secured by RZE’s micro-adjustable QuikCliq clasp, allowing for convenient size adjustments without tools.

Pricing and Availability

Pre-orders for the RZE Resolute Type A open on March 20. The model is priced at USD 499 when paired with the TecTuff strap, while the titanium bracelet version is offered at USD 699.
