Rolex is Out of Baselworld
Like a bomb, was today announced through a press release that Rolex is leaving the Baselworld, after more than 80 years. But on this announcement, they weren’t alone, other four brands, Patek Philippe, Tudor, Chanel and Chopard subscribe it on their intention to cut ties but also to join forces and create a new Geneva-based salon with FHH (Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie).
In recent times, some buzz and “malaise” between some brands and Baselworld had been announcing that something was going to happen, and the reasons now advocated by those brands prove it, each in their own words said they share a different view of Baselworld and the desire to follow a new path that best suits your interests.
It is too early to predict what will happen, but one thing is for sure, Baselworld will not be the same without these marks, and now that Pandora’s box is opening, the question is: how many will follow the crowd?
