Rolex Explorer Comes Back More Muscular
Two years ago we saw the return of the Rolex Explorer in 36mm with some surprise and the departure of the 39mm version, and today Rolex surprises again with the return of the model to the wide cases the 40mm.
Is it unexpected? Yes. Are we surprised? No, coming from Rolex, which, as we have often said here, remains the same and immune to trends and pressures. Do we see ourselves in this release? Probably not, but we can’t help but admire the brand’s stance on going its own way.
Moving on to the new watch, in addition to its size there is little else to add, using the same stainless steel case and bracelet, although now wider. On the dial, the traditional layout on a black background with the inscription “Explorer” at 12 o’clock following the 36mm variant and leaving behind the days when it lived in the southern hemisphere at 6 o’clock on the previous 39mm.
And if on the outside and on the dial there is nothing new, in its heart much less, keeping the Caliber 3230 with an automatic movement that operates at 28,800 Vph and offers up to 70 hours of power reserve.
