Roger Dubuis Presents The New Chapter ‘A Story Of Ice And Fire’ Of The Knights Of The Round Table.
Contemporary watch brand Roger Dubuis presents the latest version of the Knights of The Round Table dubbed ‘A Story of Ice and Fire’.
The ingenious watch, which debuted in 2013, now arrives in a titanium case and with an ice-blue Murano and 18k rose gold dial.
The watch now comes dressed in a Damascus titanium case that features a zebra-like pattern resulting from the forging of different titanium plates in Grade 5 and Grade 2, the process of which involves several stages of cooking, hammering and acid bathing until obtaining the final result. It features the traditional RD case shape with three-pronged lugs, a notched bezel that rests on the boxed sapphire crystal that rises from the case, revealing the “main characters of this movie”, the 12 knights. The crown, which is flanked by guards, is made of several pieces, of which the ice-blue Murano glass inside stands out.
The dial, which is the main showcase of the watch, features an inner bezel that rises from the base of the dial, both in ice-blue Murano glass, where 18k rose gold hour markers are engraved, next to which rises the figurines carefully moulded of the 12 knights in different postures. The centre of the dial attempts to replicate an icy lake broken through several white uneven plates, which ends with the two skeletonized centre hands with tips filled with luminescent material.
Inside is the in-house RD 821 automatic movement that brings the watch to life, operating at 28,800 Vph and offering two days of power reserve. This movement can be observed through the open rear case whose main focus is the oscillating mass in shades of blue inspired by medieval stained glass windows in churches and castles.
The watch, which is a limited edition of 28 pieces, arrives attached to a blue leather strap with a folding clasp and can be purchased for the price of CHF 300,000 (excluding taxes).
