Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph Shines In Pink Gold
Roger Dubuis has expanded its Excalibur Spider collection with a striking new edition of the Flyback Chronograph, unveiled during Monterey Car Week 2025. Limited to just 88 pieces, this model brings a fresh interpretation of the brand’s high-tech, automotive-inspired chronograph with a distinctive pink gold and black finish.

Case Design and Construction
The Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph stands out immediately with its bold 45 mm case, 17.10 mm thick, and characterized by Roger Dubuis’ signature three-lug design. Extensive skeletonization defines the watch, with hollowed lugs, case sides, and pushers creating a complex latticework that showcases both structure and lightness.

This edition highlights the details through the use of pink gold for the primary case elements, paired with DLC-coated titanium accents on the crown, pushers, and mid-case. The combination enhances legibility and creates a dynamic two-tone appearance. A radially brushed pink gold bezel with engraved black-filled numerals further emphasizes the watch’s aggressive character. The watch is completed with a sapphire caseback and offers 100 meters of water resistance.
Skeleton Dial Layout
The skeleton dial showcases Roger Dubuis’ architectural approach to watchmaking. Brushed pink gold bridges frame the main components of the movement, while the black skeletonized hands provide strong contrast for enhanced legibility. At the top of the dial, the twin mainspring barrels occupy the 12 o’clock position, ensuring a steady supply of power. To the right, the chronograph minutes display at 3 o’clock introduces a rotating counter system that recalls the look of a Lamborghini dashboard. The column wheel and skeletonized date indication sit at 6 o’clock, reinforcing the chronograph’s technical presence. Meanwhile, the inclined balance wheel positioned at 9 o’clock, angled at 12 degrees, serves as a visual highlight. This unusual configuration is designed to deliver performance benefits reminiscent of a tourbillon, while adding to the dynamic feel of the dial.

Despite the wealth of visual detail, the design achieves a thoughtful balance, with each element carefully placed to maintain harmony and proportion across the openworked structure.
Movement: RD780SQ
At the heart of the watch is the in-house RD780SQ automatic flyback chronograph movement. It offers a 71-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement incorporates a vertical clutch system enhanced with an innovative braking mechanism, ensuring precise chronograph performance even during rapid starts and stops.

As with all of the brand’s high-end creations, finishing is a key part of the movement’s appeal. The RD780SQ is certified with the prestigious Poinçon de Genève, a hallmark that guarantees exceptional craftsmanship. According to Roger Dubuis, no fewer than 16 different finishing techniques are used throughout the calibre. The view through the sapphire caseback is dominated by a skeletonized rotor designed in the shape of a racing wheel, which turns above sharply brushed, angular bridges.
Strap and Wearing Experience
The Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph is paired with a sculpted black rubber strap. Its raised ridges and recessed triangular textures not only echo the geometric lines of the case but also contribute to a bold, modern aesthetic. The strap integrates seamlessly into the case, emphasizing the three-lug construction while ensuring comfort and durability for everyday wear.
