In celebration of its 30-year legacy of horological innovation, Roger Dubuis introduces the Excalibur Grande Complication—a masterpiece that harmoniously integrates three esteemed complications: a perpetual calendar, a minute repeater, and a flying tourbillon. This limited edition of just eight pieces exemplifies the brand’s dedication to technical excellence and artistic expression.

A Symphony of Complications

The Excalibur Grande Complication showcases Roger Dubuis’ prowess in high watchmaking by combining:

Perpetual Calendar with Biretrograde Display: This mechanism accurately accounts for the varying lengths of months and leap years, requiring no manual correction until 2100. The biretrograde display features semi-circle scales for the day and date, with hands that gracefully return to zero at the end of their cycle, reflecting the brand’s innovative spirit.
Minute Repeater: Activated by a touch button on the case’s left side, this complication chimes the time with a distinctive tritone sequence—low pitch for hours, high pitch for minutes, and a combination for quarter hours. This “devil’s chord” adds a unique auditory signature to the timepiece.
Flying Tourbillon: Positioned at 6 o’clock, the tourbillon features a mirror-polished cage inspired by the Celtic Cross and utilizes lightweight, non-magnetic titanium. This gravity-defying mechanism enhances timekeeping precision and stands as a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation.

Exquisite Case Design

Housed in a 45mm rose gold case, the Excalibur Grande Complication features brushed finishing on the surfaces, with a polished bezel and chamfers. The notched bezel and fluted crown at 3 o’clock, protected by skeletonized guards, add to the watch’s distinctive aesthetic. A touch button on the left side serves as the minute repeater activator. The open caseback, secured by four screws, reveals the movement within, while water resistance of 50m ensures durability in everyday conditions.

Openworked Dial with Exceptional Detailing

The dial is an intricate blend of artistry and functionality. It features an openwork design, finished with a thin black snail ring and a white minute track with gold hour markers with black inserts. Between 1 and 4 o’clock, a retrograde date display is positioned on a brushed black bridge, mirroring another twin bridge between 7 and 10 o’clock that incorporates the retrograde day of the week and the month disc. Above these, a small rotating gold disc elegantly marks the leap year indicator. At 6 o’clock, the flying tourbillon takes center stage, framed by black inserts that enhance the sense of depth and movement.

Calibre RD118: The Heartbeat of Excellence

At the core of this timepiece is the in-house Calibre RD118, delivering a 60-hour power reserve. Comprising 684 meticulously hand-decorated components, it proudly bears the Poinçon de Genève certification, a mark of superior quality and craftsmanship.
