Rado Serves Up A Stylish Tribute With The New Captain Cook x Tennis
Rado marks four decades of association with the professional tennis world with the release of the Captain Cook x Tennis Limited Edition, a timepiece that merges the brand’s vintage diver DNA with contemporary sport-inspired detailing. Limited to 1,985 pieces, this model introduces distinctive tennis cues while retaining the robust capabilities of the Captain Cook collection.

Sporty Dimensions with Diver Credentials
The watch is presented in a 39 mm stainless steel case with a 12 mm thickness and a 45.50 mm lug-to-lug length, delivering a versatile fit on the wrist. A hallmark of the Captain Cook line, the rotating bezel features a circular brushed plasma high-tech ceramic insert, highlighted by lacquered white markers and a luminous triangle at 12 o’clock for optimal legibility. The case construction ensures 300 metres of water resistance, making it suitable for both sport and aquatic use.

Dial with a Hidden Game Plan
At the heart of the watch lies agrey gradient dial—an elegant visual that subtly evokes court surfaces under bright lighting. Unique tennis symbolism appears in the form of four luminous yellow markers at the 3, 6, 8, and 12 o’clock positions, representing the sport’s scoring progression: 15, 30, 40, and game. A yellow-tipped seconds hand, shaped to resemble a tennis ball in motion, brings additional character.

Additional design elements include a ruthenium-toned minute track flange, rhodium-plated indices, and hands, all treated with white Super-LumiNova for readability in low light. A date display is positioned at 3 o’clock, providing daily practicality.
Movement Built for Endurance
Inside, the watch is powered by the Rado calibre R763, an automatic movement delivering an 80-hour power reserve. Enhanced with a Nivachron™ antimagnetic hairspring, this calibre offers stability and resistance to magnetic interference—important for accurate timekeeping during physical activity. Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, it’s based on the proven ETA C07.611 architecture, ensuring both durability and serviceability.

Complete Kit with Court-Ready Straps
The timepiece is fitted with a stainless steel “beads-of-rice” bracelet, polished and brushed for texture, and secured with a triple-folding clasp. Rado includes three interchangeable NATO-style straps, each colour-coded to a court surface—green for grass, blue for hard, and orange for clay—allowing the wearer to match the watch with their tennis environment. Each strap comes with its own stainless steel pin buckle.

On the back, a screw-down caseback features an engraved serial marking (“one out of 1985”) along with a trio of embossed textures that represent the three major court types. A box-shaped sapphire crystal with dual-sided anti-reflective coating ensures scratch resistance and glare reduction.
Availability
The Rado Captain Cook x Tennis Limited Edition is priced at CHF 2,400 and is presented in a leather travel pouch, completing the package for enthusiasts of both watchmaking and the sport of tennis.
