Porsche Design Unveils Chronograph 1 F.A.T. 2025 Edition Inspired By Ice Racing
Porsche Design has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the Chronograph 1 – F.A.T. Edition 2025, a tribute to both motorsport heritage and cutting-edge watchmaking innovation. This new edition, with its striking full-lumed white dial, draws inspiration from the thrilling F.A.T. Ice Race, making it an essential collector’s piece for motorsport and horology enthusiasts alike.
The F.A.T. International, a former French logistics company turned transformative motorsport brand, lends its name to this new timepiece. Back in the early 1990s, F.A.T. partnered with Porsche and renowned racing driver Joachim Dauer to achieve victory at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1994 with the iconic Porsche 962. Today, the company continues to be a key player in motorsport, organizing premier events such as the F.A.T. Ice Race, where this exceptional watch made its debut.
Building on the success of the 2023 edition, the Chronograph 1 – F.A.T. Edition 2025 introduces a bold inverted color scheme. The previous black dial has been replaced by a luminous white one, and the titanium case and bracelet now feature a sleek black titanium carbide finish. Despite these aesthetic changes, the dimensions remain true to the original, with a case measuring 40.80mm in diameter and 14.15mm thick. The watch also retains its signature features, including a sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown flanked by two pushers, a solid case back, and 100 meters of water resistance.
One of the standout elements of this edition is the generously layered Super-LumiNova coating on the dial, which emits a mesmerizing turquoise glow in low light. The dial maintains the traditional Tri-compax layout, with a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, running seconds at 9 o’clock, and a 30-minute register at 12 o’clock. Black printed hour markers and hands, along with a black domed tachymeter bezel, provide sharp contrast, while a red chronograph center seconds hand echoes the vibrant F.A.T. inscription on the dial. Notably, the F.A.T. logo replaces the standard SAT and SUN indicators in the double day-date window, a unique touch that adds character.
Fans of motorsport will appreciate the thoughtful details embedded in the design. When the dial is fully lit in the dark, the silhouette of the Porsche 962 becomes visible at the 6 o’clock register, accompanied by the historic F.A.T. International logo beneath the day window—an homage to the brand’s racing legacy.
Powering this exceptional timepiece is the COSC-certified Caliber Werk 01.240 automatic movement. This 25-jewel engine features a flying chronograph, operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (Vph), and provides a robust power reserve of up to 48 hours, ensuring precision and reliability.
Completing the package is a titanium bracelet finished to match the case, secured with a folding clasp. For versatility, Porsche Design includes two additional straps—a white textile strap adorned with the F.A.T. Ice Race badge and a striking purple textile and leather combination. Limited to just 136 units, the Chronograph 1 – F.A.T. Edition 2025 is priced at €10,936, making it a coveted addition for collectors and enthusiasts.
