Porsche 911 GT2 RS Flachbau: A Modern Tribute To The Legendary 935

Porsche has unveiled a unique one-off creation through its Sonderwunsch programme, transforming a 991.2-generation 911 GT2 RS into the striking Flachbau RS. Inspired by the iconic Porsche 935/78 “Moby Dick”, the project combines retro motorsport design with the performance of one of the most extreme road-going 911s ever built.

Designed by Grant Larson, the same designer behind the 2018 Porsche 935 tribute, the Flachbau RS features extensively reworked bodywork, including a slantnose front end, new front wings, additional louvres, a redesigned bumper and a distinctive three-tier LED lighting system. Despite its racing-inspired appearance, the car remains fully road legal.

Aerodynamic development was carried out with the support of Manthey, resulting in a new front splitter, rear diffuser and a manually adjustable rear wing capable of generating up to 554 kg of downforce. Porsche also reduced the car’s weight by 31.6 kg compared to a GT2 RS fitted with the Weissach Package.

The lightweight approach extends to the interior, where the owner requested the removal of the PCM system, audio equipment, sound insulation and floor coverings. Exposed carbon fibre, painted metal surfaces and carbon bucket seats reinforce its motorsport character, while bespoke Flachbau RS details highlight its exclusivity.

Power comes from the unchanged 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine, producing nearly 700 hp and 750 Nm of torque. With a 0-100 km/h sprint of around 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 340 km/h, the GT2 RS platform already delivers exceptional performance without further modifications.

Finished in Grand Prix White with black accents and aerodisc-style wheels, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Flachbau stands as a remarkable modern interpretation of one of the brand’s most celebrated racing cars, blending heritage-inspired design with contemporary engineering.
