Piaget Unveils A Sodalite Dial Version Of The Polo 79
Last week, during the Watches and Wonders event, Piaget presented a new Polo 79 that introduced a stunning natural stone dial to the collection. This latest version pairs an 18K white gold case and bracelet with a deep blue sodalite dial, reinforcing the model’s distinctive blend of jewelry-inspired design and refined watchmaking.
A natural stone dial with unique character
The defining feature of this new Polo 79 is its sodalite dial. This natural stone is known for its rich blue tone, intersected by irregular white veining. Because each slice of sodalite is unique, no two dials are identical, giving every watch an individual appearance.

Piaget integrates the stone dial seamlessly within the Polo’s signature aesthetic. The linear structure created by the horizontal gadroons—alternating brushed and polished ridges—extends across the case and bracelet, while the organic texture of the sodalite introduces contrast without disrupting the overall visual harmony.
Slim proportions and integrated design
The case retains the modern Polo 79 proportions, measuring 38 mm in diameter with a thickness of just 7.45 mm. These dimensions emphasize comfort and elegance, staying true to Piaget’s long-standing expertise in ultra-thin watchmaking.

Crafted entirely from 18K white gold, both the case and the integrated bracelet form a continuous design. This approach reflects the original Polo concept, where the watch is conceived as a unified bracelet rather than a traditional case with attached lugs. The result is a fluid silhouette that sits naturally on the wrist.
In-house ultra-thin movement
Powering the watch is Piaget’s manufacture caliber 1200P1, an ultra-thin automatic movement equipped with a micro-rotor. Visible through the sapphire case back, the movement highlights the brand’s technical focus on slim calibers without compromising finishing or performance.

The display is intentionally minimal, showing only hours and minutes. This clean layout enhances the visual impact of the dial while aligning with the Polo 79’s refined and understated identity.
Everyday elegance with a dress watch profile
While Piaget positions the Polo 79 as a versatile daily wearer, its specifications place it closer to a dress watch in character. The 5-bar water resistance provides basic protection, but the emphasis remains on design, materials, and wearability rather than sport-oriented functionality.

The integrated bracelet is fitted with a butterfly clasp, ensuring a seamless look when worn and preserving the uninterrupted flow of the gadroon pattern.
